ADOPT-A-HIGHWAY PROJECT
We had another very successful litter pick up, on Saturday, November 14th. The weather cooperated and we had 10 members (3 senior members and 7 cadets) pick up a total of 10 bags of litter, along the two mile stretch of Paynes Ford Road. Weve completed our 12th year and brought our totals over that period of time to 35,700 pounds, or 1,785 tons, of trash picked up along that road. Each member who helped received a collapsible umbrella, courtesy of the West Virginia Department of Highways. The squadron can be very proud of our accomplishment and again, thanks to everyone who helped over the year.

WV Aircrew locates wreckage of missing aircraft

The West Virginia Civil Air Patrol has found a pilot's body with the wreckage of a small plane that vanished more than a week ago during a flight from Texas to Virginia. Major Jeffery Schrock says a squadron from Clarksburg spotted the wreckage about five miles north of a navigational transmitter used by pilots in Rainelle, along West Virginia's southeastern border. Schrock says ground teams had to hike over densely wooded, mountainous terrain to verify the debris was the missing plane. Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Lynn Lunsford says Kwan Kwok of Virginia was reported missing by his sister. She says Kwok bought the plane in Dalhart, Texas. Schrock says the Air Force told the Civil Air Patrol that the plane left Texas on Nov. 23 The Martinsburg Squadron aircraft participated in the mission on both days.
