Sometimes we dont prepare for the Khutba with enough seriousness and it shows

Remember that this is also a chance to build bridges with the people who are your constituents

Because even people who are irregular with salah go to Juma

Unless you are the worlds greatest expert, rehearsing is essential.

Impact is directly proportional to preparation

Use current events to highlight the need for change


Create a theme that you follow for several weeks

Make open handed gestures between waist & chin


Be aware of your body language

Ensure that your gestures support your words It is okay to be nervous It is not okay to show it

Who you are speaks louder than what you say

Body language Gestures

Body language should always support the words. It should not convey nervousness or distract attention. The solution is to develop self awareness of what you are doing at all times. Ask people to give you feedback and listen with openness.

On the Minbar
Be confident Make and hold eye contact Make open-handed gestures Move only with purpose Stand straight & smile it indicates

Scan the room Look at the ceiling, floor or walls for your thoughts Get hooked to one person in the audience

Be optimistic and positive. Never complain Be cheerful and sincere. Always a genuine smile

Be honest, clear and straight in your statements Be careful regarding nationalities, gender and ethnicity in your language

Remember you are in the place of Rasoolullah

Donts

Never speak without preparing


Never use the Minbar to attack people regardless of your justification

Never speak about controversial issues Never say anything without its daleel Never speak about issues of fiqh except when these are well known and agreed upon
