This past February, Southern Illinois University held their 81st annual Greek Awards. After many months of hard work, our chapter was proud to take home various awards displaying true merit throughout the campus and community. Out of 16 fraternities on SIU campus; we ranked 1st overall, and 3rd overall in Greek Organizations only behind the lovely ladies of Delta Zeta and Sigma Kappa. Thanks to the hard work of our brothers, we took home 7 Gold Awards and 1 Silver Award. It was truly a proud moment to be a Theta Zeta Tau, and we intend to keep up this level of excellence. Ruh Rah! Southern Illinois University has always held their Greek Council to high standards. As of which, two of our brothers has held prestigious positions the past two semesters showing what Taus have to offer to this Greek community. These brothers have taken the strong leadership skills theyve acquired during ATO and put their hard work into the Greek community. They are making Theta Zeta proud with their hard work. This past January, Theta Zeta welcomed 13 new brothers into our beloved fraternity. The Gamma Epsilon pledge class has endured the challenges and expectations of social, academic, brotherhood, and community service. They are ready to be active members of ATO with the goal winning True Merit for our chapter. IFC President Alex LaVeille. Currently our chapters Secretary IGC Treasurer Fola Arowora. The Spring 2012 Gamma Zeta pledge class has been set. Thanks to our Recruitment Chairman, Kevin Walsh, for bringing in quality young men. We have 100% confidence that our Membership Educator, Hubert Jasiewicz, will teach them the morals and attitudes our Founding Fathers would be proud of. The Theta Zeta chapter partnered up with the lovely ladies of Sigma Kappa to compete in the InterGreek Council 65th Annual Theta Xi Variety Show on March 31, 2012. This years variety show sported a Boardgames Theme in which the creative mind of Eddie Farrer, our Theta Xi director, created a humorous yet classy script where characters of every board game came together to create the Ultimate Board Game. One that would capture the minds and hearts of children and families
everywhere! Every member of our chapter put countless hours of hard work for over six weeks into this show in hopes of defending the title we won the previous year in the large group category.

Our combination of Taus and Sig Kaps put on an incredible performance but to our unfortunate surprise, came in 2nd place in the large group category. Although it was not expected, an exciting and entertaining performance was absolute where efforts should be noteworthy. Here at Theta Zeta we embrace competition, because thats what makes us work harder. We acknowledge that when you put all your heart and soul into something, you should walk away with you heads held high, no matter what the results were. The entire experience was a roller-coaster of fun, especially for the new members. Not to mention the great relationship developed with the ladies of Sigma Kappa. Thank you for all the hard work ladies and gentlemen!
Here at Theta Zeta, we have taken monumental strides in fundraising money for our chapter. On Wednesday, February 29th leap day, we held our Annual Lonestar steakhouse dinner, which 15% of your total bill goes towards our chapter funds and also serves as an opportunity for the community and campus students to come out to enjoy a nice steak dinner.
Along with our Lonestar dinner event, our chapter created a March Madness bracket to raise money. BrackeTAUlogy was a huge success! We gathered a committee to organize the event, and had all our members sell brackets to fellow students and community members. This wasnt too difficult considering the hype and excitement March Madness brings to all of us! Prizes went out as the following: 1st - $150 2nd - $100 3rd - $50
Other proceeds went to our chapter philanthropy and other charities. There was a terrific turn out for everyone and we hope to extend BrackeTAUlogy to our fellow alumni for next years event.
Fundraising Chairman, Patrick Springmire, has brought fundraising to new level of expectation. With the help of his committee and other fellow brothers, we raised over $1200 to help with chapter events!

During this 2011-2012 academic year, Theta Zeta chapter has made academics one of our top priorities. We strive to be the better each year, and thanks to the hard work of our members, our chapter was 3rd overall among Greek organizations in IFC! We have surpassed the All Mens Average with a GPA of 2.71 this past fall, giving us one more step towards True Merit! Ruh Rah!
John Ingram, Scholarship Chairman last semester, put an emphasis on grades this year by adding more study hours and persuading members to come more often. He stated We have to remember why were at college. Attending a few more study hours per week never hurt anybody so when they have that diploma in their hand, theyll thank me! Strict policies have been enforced among members. Actives that do not meet the 2.50 semester or cumulative GPA are placed on social probation. This semester, academic progress is being tracked as usually. We plan on keeping up the improvement and making our chapter proud. ATOs are actively working in the community. We do Adopt-A-Spot, which is where organizations choose an area in the community and pick up the trash weekly. We also have been involved in a program called SPIN, Special People In Need. Last fall at SPIN, we transformed a local elementary school into a haunted house to raise money. This Spring we gave the elementary school a total makeover turning it into a soup kitchen for the homeless. Philanthropy Chairman, Aaron Curry, is having5 chapter complete 20-plus hours at least per member. Check out http://fsl.siuc.edu/service/ the for more info on Greek philanthropy and service.

At Southern Illinois University, the Greek Community recognizes very distinguished Greeks who excel academically and in other parts of the community in the Order of Omega. As of which, three of our Theta Zeta brothers has just been initiated into this prestigious group. Congratulations to these individuals who have joined a rare and honorary group of alumni within our chapter.
