Title: EC225LP Controlled Landing on Water Brief Account of Events: During offshore operations in the North Sea, UK sector, an EC225LP from another operator carried out a controlled landing on the water. The aircraft was operating a schedule offshore crew change when the crew reported a light associated with the gear box. The aircraft turned back towards shore and two other aircraft in the vicinity joined up with it to trail it home. The aircraft landed successfully, and all persons on board evacuated into life rafts. All personnel have been rescued and returned to Aberdeen for medical evaluation. Findings:
CHCs Response: CHC Helicopters Operations, Airworthiness, Maintenance and Safety teams shall monitor this incident in close cooperation with the aircraft manufacturer (Eurocopter), the UK Civil Aviation Authority and the Air Accident Investigation Board. As confirmed information is released to the industry and public, CHC shall follow the recommendations of these groups. This safety alert is issued to all CHC Helicopter Services operations where the EC225LP is deployed, for the purposes of maintaining global coordination of our response and actions across all Regions.
