The Organization
In the princely state of Hyderabad, under the rule of the Nizams, the Red Cross Society was established in 1920 in a small building in St. Marys road, Secunderabad as a child welfare center. The British Resident at Hyderabad was its President at that time. Indian Red Cross Society, A.P.State Branch has come into existence in the year 1956. His Excellency the Governor of Andhra Pradesh is the President of A.P. State Branch. Indian Red Cross Society, A.P. State Branch is having 23 District Branches and 243 District Sub-Branches. District Collector is the President for a District Branch. There is a District Secretary for each district who looks after the Red Cross activities and supports the Executive Committee and Management Committee.
Donors to Indian Red Cross are eligible for Tax exemption vide Min. of Finance, (Dept. of Revenue), GoI, vide notification F.No.V-27011/275/2009go(NAT.com) dated 19.03.2010.

There are 78 Red Cross operated Blood Storage Centers covering all the 23 districts of A.P. under RCH Programme of NRHM
