Mental health refers to a broad array of activities directly or indirectly related to the mental well-being component included in the WHO's definition of health: "A state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease".
DEFINITION
It is related to the promotion of well-being, the prevention of mental disorders and the treatment and rehabilitation of people affected by mental disorders.
EPIDEMIOLOGY
According to WHO [2004], by 2030 depression will be the leading cause of disease burden in developed countries. About 2/3rd of adults negative moodssufficient to interfere with day to day activities. Each year- 6% of adult population
DEFINITION

SMI
Refers to conditions where psychosis [ ex: delusions, hearing voices] is present. Schizophrenia, bipolar disorders and other phobias are included.
SCREENING
Patients in high risk groups : With significant illness: diabetes, CV disease, COPD, Stroke Patients with other mental health problems like dementia Patients with a history of relationship difficulties: physical ,sexual or emotional abuse
