Efforts to Address Cyber Security Issues:

 Karnataka was the first state to have a dedicated Cyber


Crime Police Station, with Bengaluru getting the first in 2001.
 Karnataka has set up Cyber Crime Cells at Mysuru,
Mangaluru, Kalaburagi, Davanager, Hubballi-Dharwad.
 The Karnataka Police Department and Cyber Cells have
dedicated website http://cyberpolicebangalore.nic.in/
 The Department conducts Cyber Security Education among
public through various mediums, including Social Media.
 Bankers are educating the public about safe methods to use
digital transactions
Suggestions:
 Tech Savvy Trained Staff in increased numbers at
Police Stations
 Provide Department with latest technologies
especially for Data Analytics
 Special Agency to co-ordinate between Vigilance
Department, IT Department, Excise Departments
and police from various states and internationally
 Hot pursuit of international criminals, even if cost is
at times exorbitant
Suggestions:
 Banks and e-commerce companies must provide
financial support and technical staff or support for
crime prevention and detection.
 Every Bank and e-commerce portals must have a
digital security officer to help police department
and customers to track digital fraudsters.
 Gift Coupons for purchase of articles online, usually
generated by hackers to avoid bank transaction
and must be compulsorily verified by e-commerce
Conclusion:
 A strong message that the Government will not
allow anybody to misuse or abuse the digital
infrastructure is absolutely vital to protect the
digital resources and public to trust and use these
resources. If left under protected, people may shy
away from using these resources apart from some
victims facing losses, thus putting us behind in the use
of ICT revolution in areas of cyber financial
transactions.
