Wood Floor System

Flooring - refers to tongue and groove board most common on wood


flooring materials. The thickness is from 3/4" to 1 "with varying width
that ranges from 4 to 6 inches.
1. Girders - a principal beam extending from wall to wall or the structural
member that support the floor joist
Classifications:
1. Solid
2. Built-Up

SOLID GIRDER OR SOLID BEAM


BUILT-UP GIRDER OR BEAM
2. Floor Joist - part of the floor system that support the floor boards. It is
fastened on the girder at a distance 30 to 40 cm rigidly secured by
bridging to prevent from turning sideways

3. Joist Bridging
4. Wood Sill or Wood Plate - wood member fastened with anchor bolts to
the foundation wall or beam.
5. Header - short traverse joist that supports the end or the cut-off at a
stair well hole.

6. Trimmer - a supporting joist which carries an end portion of a


header.
