NATIONAL SERVICE

TRAINING PROGRAM
PHYSICAL ORGANIZATION AND
COURSE ORIENTATION, NSTP
PROGRAM (RA 9163):

Specific provision of the 1987 Philippines


Constitution RA7077 (an act of providing for
the organization , administration, training,
maintenance and utilization of the citizens
Armed Force Of The Philippines for other
purposes).

SERVICE TRAINING SERVICE
PROGRAM (NSTP) ACT OF 2001
The NATIONAL SERVICE TRAINING
PROGRAM law are republic act no. 9163 is a program
aimed at enhancing civic consciousness and defense
preparedness in the youth by developing the service
and patriotism while undergoing training of any this
three program components specifically designed to
enhance the youth’s active contribution to the general
welfare of Filipinos.
WHAT ARE THE PROGRAM COMPONENTS
OF THE NSTP?
• Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC)- which is
design to provide military training to tertiary level
students in order to motivate, train, organized and
mobilized them for national defense preparedness.
• Literacy training service (LTS)- designed to train the
students to teach literacy and numeracy skills in
children, out of school youth, and other segments of
society in need of their services
• Civic welfare training service (CWTS)- refers to a
activities contributory to the general welfare and the
betterment of life of the members of the community
or the enhancement of community, environment,
entrepreneurship, safety, recreation and morals of the
citizenry and other social welfare services.
WHO SHALL TAKE NSTP?

• All incoming freshman student male or female,


enrolled in any baccalaureate and it at least two year
technical-vocational or associates courses, are
expected to complete one NSTP component of their
choice, as a graduation requirement.
SINCE WHEN HAS THE NSTP BEEN
IMPLEMENTED?

• The NSTP has been implemented since the start of


school year 2002-2003.
HOW IS THE NSTP TAKEN UP?
• Each of the NSTP components is undertaken for an
accident period of two semester and is credited for
three units of semester with 54 to 90 training hours
per semester
WHAT WILL BECOME THE NSTP
GRADUATES?

• Graduate of non-ROTC components shall belong to


the national service reserve (corps) which could be
tapped by the state for the literacy and civic welfare
activity. Graduates of ROTC shall form part of the AFP
Citizen Armed Forced, subject of DND requirements.
HOW CAN STUDENT CONTINUE TO QUALIFY
FOR ENLISTING IN AFP RESERVE FORCE?

• He/she may qualify for enlistment in the AFP reserve


force so long as he/she has completed the two
semester of basic ROTC
ARE THERE ANY STUDENTS INCENTIVES
PROVIDED FOR BY THE NSTP?

The following incentives provided by the students when


they take up NSTP:
1. A program of assistance/incentives for ROTC students
from the DND which will be in accordance with the
existing laws and regulations and subject of the school
availability of funds;
1. A team of school authorities concerned, CHED,
TESDA which shall ensure that health and accident
group insurances are provided to students enrolled
in any of the NSTP components and
2. A Special Scholarship Program for qualified NSTP
students which shall be administered by CHED and
TESDA subject to the availability of funds.
WHO IS RESPONSIBLE IN SUPERVISING THE
NSTP TO STUDENTS
• School authorities shall exercise academic and
administrative supervision over the design,
formulation, adoption and implementations of the
different NSTP components of their respective
schools.

• In the case of ROTC, the school authorities and DND


shall exercise joint supervision over its
IS THE NSTP AVAILABLE IN ALL SCHOOLS
AND UNIVERSITIES?

• All higher and technical-vocational educational


institution offer at least one of the NSTP components
while state universities and colleges offer the ROTC
component and at least one other NSTP component.
Private schools that have at least 350 students cadets
offer the ROTC component through its Department Of
Military Science And Tactics (DMST)
GUIDELINES FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT
OF THE NATIONAL SERVICE RESERVE
CORPS (NSRC)
• Section 11 of RA 9163 or The National Service
Training Program Act Of 2001 specifically provide for
the creation of national reserve corps, composed of
graduates of the non-ROTC components: Reserve
Officers Training Corps (ROTC), Civic welfare
training service (CWTS), and Literacy training
service (LTS). Members of the corps may be tapped
by the state of literacy and civic welfare activities,
through the joint of efforts of DND, CHED, and
TESDA.
THA NATIONAL SERVICE RESERVE CORPS

MISSION
To provide a trained and motivated manpower
pool that can be tapped by the state for the civic
welfare, literacy and other similar endeavors in the
service of the nation.
FUNCTIONS

1. To assist in the disaster preparedness, mitigation,


response and rehabilitation program.
2. To serve as an auxiliary to the disaster coordinating
council (DCC) response unit.
3. To assist in the promotion of civic welfare activities.
4. To assist in the implementation of literacy program.
5. To assist in the socioeconomic development.
6. To assist in the environmental protection.
7. To perform other similar endeavors.
COMPONENTS

• The NSRC shall be composed of the graduates of


CWTS and LTS components of the NSTP.
