• It came from the Latin word feudum, or “feudal state”
1. Castle – the chief characteristics of feudal, live in huge
castles or forts.
2. Manor – this was like a small state.
3. Demense – distributing the land among his serfs whatever
land remained with him.
4. The Feudal Society – was largely an agrarian society.
5. The Knight – took oath to fight with enemy and to protect the
weak.
6. The Rights and Duties of Feudal Lords – save their subjects from
the invaders.
7. Duty of Vassals – had to be present in the court whenever the
Lord needed.
8. Ceremony of Homage – organized to cement the bond
between the “Lord” as “Vassal”.
9. Investiture – a legal document concerning “fief” (land given to
vassal) , a staff and a flag were also handed over to the vassal.
