Saman Dance Traditional

Costume
This a traditional costume to performed
Saman Dance.

The Saman dance is part of the cultural


heritage of the Gayo people of Aceh
province in Sumatra. Boys and young
men perform the Saman sitting on their
heels or kneeling in tight rows. Each
wears a costume embroidered with
colourful Gayo motifs symbolizing
nature and noble values (ich.unesco.0rg,
2019)
Jawi Jangkep

Jawi Jangkep
Jawi Jangkep is officially registered as a
traditional attire in Central Java
Province. Jawi Jangkep specializes in the
use of blacktops that can only be worn
on formal occasions.

Jawi Jangkep is from two words: Jawi


and Jangkep. Jawi means Javanese,
Jangkep means complete, including
beskap clothes and Jarik cloth.
Kebaya Bali

The origin of the kebaya is from the word “Kebyak” or “Mbayak”


from Javanese society.

A kebaya is a traditional blouse-dress combination that


originated from the court of the Majapahit Kingdom
(today Indonesia), and is traditionally worn by women in
Indonesia, and also Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, southern
Thailand, Cambodia and the southern part of the Philippines.

Similar blouses are found in Burma, where it is


called htaingmathein. It is sometimes made from sheer material
such as silk, thin cotton or semi-transparent nylon or polyester,
adorned with brocade or floral pattern embroidery.

A kebaya is usually worn with a sarong, or a batik , or other


traditional woven garment such as ikat, songket with a colorful
motif.

The kebaya is the national costume of Indonesia, although it is


more accurately endemic to
the Javanese, Sundanese and Balinese peoples.
Beskap Solo

Beskap is one of the traditional clothes


that show life philosophy that be taught
in Javanese culture and custom.
Actually, Beskap is come from Dutch
language vocabulary Beschaafd which
means civilized.

There’s philosophy behind it.


In kejawen teachings (Javanese culture
teachings), we have to have
harmonization in our life, whether it’s in
work, human relationship, spirituality,
and habit.
