Peace

Peace is essential in education for several reasons. It promotes a safe and supportive learning environment where students can focus on learning without fear or stress (positive peace). It also helps develop skills like conflict resolution that are important for building understanding between groups (social peace). Furthermore, education plays a key role in fostering greater peace at the national and international levels by promoting cultural understanding and appreciation of human rights.

Peace
Latin root “pace”
Spanish “paz”
Romans “pacific” or “pacifica”
Greek “Irene”

Irenology is a formal study of peace.

Irenologists
the experts in the study of peace
which includes the peace-makers,
peace keepers, peace negotiators,
and peace advocates like
Mohandas K. Gandhi, Mother
Theresa of Calcutta, Martin Luther
King, Jr. and others.
Peace can be defined as
the absence of any form of
violence.
Cedeno (2001) defined
peace as “a state of quiet or
tranquillity: freedom from
violence. It is a state of
reconciliation after shift or
enmity, friendly relations,
agreement and control”.
Violence can be categorized into
two types:

straight physical infliction of pain to
personal and institutional well-being
through the use of force.
Indirect Violence
a form of violence where
circuitous manifestation of

According to irenologists, peace

as innermost core in the various
levels of personal relationships.
2. Social

Social Peace is also called

as interpersonal peace, which
includes social relationships that
promote and shape peace.
Life always gives back what is being given
out.

Life is not a coincidence but a mirror of our

own action.

If we want more kindness, give more

kindness, if we want to be loved, then give
more love.

Peace is contaminating.
3. National

According to Sedico (2000)

in his write up the “Meaning of
Peace”, he ns to the stated that
national peace pertains to the
serenity of the nation.
Where there is the absence of
war, bombing, strife, terrorism,
poverty alleviation, stabilization
of prices and other noble
peace programs that maintain
better peace and order
situation in the country.
Non-government organizations
(NGO), academic institutions,
parliamentarians, professionals,
media and other members of civil
society must have their full support
and involvement in this level.

Promoting and shaping national

peace is everyone’s concern.
4. International

never be achieved by simple
solutions alone but an establishment
