Tracking System and the same is
under field trials.
CERALIN
Ceralin  is a high  Alumina Inert
Ceramic wear resistant  linking material.
It is highly suited to combat wear due to
abrasion or erosion. It is a mixture of
alumina and clay with a bonding agent.
In the power plants, the powdered coal
is transported at very high temperature
and velocity (27m/s), which makes the
pipelines vulnerable to corrosion.
Ceralin  known for  its high abrasive,
wear resistant and corrosion resistant
properties is used in the thermal power
plants, steel and cement plant
Manufacturing process of Ceralin
Raw materials

Powder preparation

Compaction

Firing

Tile testing

Assembly
Raw materials used

1. Alumina -90%

2. Clay-5%

3. MnO2-5%

4. Binder –(Polyvinyl Alcohol )

Powder Preparation
 1. Conventional Methods
The raw material along with bonding agent is put into the ball mill to
get a mixture of Ceralin

 2. Spray Dryer
Uses a spray dryer machine, to which a temperature of 450°C is
supplied. Due to very high temperature, the moist in the slip is
evaporated and powdered Ceralin is obtained
3. Planetary Mixing

The planetary mixer is an industrial equipment conceived/made to prepare food, chemical, ceramic dough or other type of product, replacing manual labour through a mechanical
system that allows to produce, continuously, large quantities of dough.
INSULATORS
• Insulators are used in electrical equipment to support and separate electrical
conductors without allowing current through themselves.
 An electrical insulator is a material whose Internal electric charges do not flow
freely, very little electric current will flow through it under the lens of an electric
field.
 The property that distinguishes an Insulator is its resistivity, Insulators higher
resistivity than semiconductors and conductors
CERAMIC INSULATORS
Today, after more than 100 year of electrical power transmission, wet
process porcelain insulators are still the most widely used from of electric
insulator.

 Disc Insulators :
 Disc insulators are mainly used for transmission and distribution these insulators used
in the form of strings by connecting number of insulators one into another. The strings
can either be in vertical position or in horizontal position. The number of insulators to be
used for various strings de.pends upon the kV rating of the system
 HOLLOW INSULATORS : BHEL manufactures all types of hollow insulators in
the range of 11 KV to 800 KV for various applic KV for various applications like
instrument transformers, breaker chamber, Surge diverters supports for PCBS,
capacitors, etc.
 These hollow insulators find their application in power transformers,
instrument transformers, electrostatic precipitators and circuit breakers.
SOLID CORE INSULATORS:
Solid core insulator are particular type of
product that refer to the core of the insulator
being solid. Modern’s Solidcore insulators are
not only designed to meet the essential
mechanical & electrical properties but also to
effectively meet the loads arising out of short
circuit, seismic, wind, thermal, ice and any
other dynamic loads.

CAP AND PIN TYPE POST INSULATORS

Cap and Pin type Post Insulators refer to
the shape of the insulators as the name itself
suggests .These insulator are used as post and
pin for various intersections of connections.
These type of insulators find their application
in bus support in substation for switches and
isolates ranging from 11 KV to 220KV.
CERAMIC GRINDING MEDIA

 BHEL has developed High Alumina Ceramic Balls, which replace   conventional steel
balls being used for pulverizing different  materials in Ball Mills and Tube Mills.
  These  wear resistant Alumina Balls have the following characteristics:
 High Hardness
 High Toughness
 Low Density
 Good Deformation Resistance
 Cost Effective
INTERNSHIP OUTCOMES
During the course of internship
I went through the safety program held by the company.
