The Effects of Using Nurse Practitioners in The Emergency Departament Ruth Sosa Jimenez

This study aimed to evaluate the impact of using nurse practitioners in an emergency department by measuring patient satisfaction and wait times. A survey of 120 emergency department patients found that 87% were highly satisfied with care from a nurse practitioner, compared to only 6% more who were highly satisfied with a physician. Patients seen by a nurse practitioner had an average wait time of 15 minutes. The results suggest that using nurse practitioners in the emergency department can improve patient satisfaction and decrease wait times.
