ROSARIO

• Casimiro Villacin del Rosario (June 13, 1896 –


z
September 15, 1982) was a Filipino
scientist. He was named a national scientist in
the Philippines in 1983 for being a pioneer in
physics, meteorology, and astronomy in the
Philippines.

• He was born in Bantayan, Cebu in 1896.

• He finished with honors in BS in Civil Engineering at the


University of the Philippines in 1918;

• MS in Physics at Yale University in the United States in


1924; and

• PhD in Physics at the University of Pennsylvania in 1932


z CONTRIBUTIONS:

He was the co-founder of the Bartol Research Foundation.

Headed the Philippine Weather Bureau for 11 years.

He was the vice chair for  National Science Development Board in


1958.

 His contributions had a great impact not just for myself but
for everyone as well. The uses of electromagnetic radiation
in the soft X-ray band helps us to be able to see even the
smallest objects. Also, it helps us to photograph our bones
and internal organs.
