WHAT IS GREEN BUILDING?

Green building (also known as green construction or sustainable

building) expands and complements the building design
concerns of economy, utility, durability, and comfort.

The green building one of which uses less water, optimizes

energy efficiency, conserves natural resources, generate less
waste and provides healthier space for occupants as compared to
conventional buildings.

Green buildings are designed to reduce the overall impact on

human health and the natural environment .

Green buildings are designed using energy, water and other

resources efficiently and by reducing waste, pollution , and
environmental degradation.

WHAT IS IGBC ?
The Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), part of the Confederation of
Indian Industry (CII) was formed in the year 2001. The vision of the council
is, "To enable a sustainable built environment for all and facilitate India to
be one of the global leaders in the sustainable built environment by 2025".
Green New buildings can have tremendous benefits, both tangible and
intangible. The most tangible benefits are the reduction in water and energy
consumption right from day one of occupancy.

- Sustainable Architecture and Des

- Site Selection and Planning
- Water Conservation
- Energy Efficiency
- Building Materials and Resources
- Indoor Environmental Quality
- Innovation and Development
WHAT IS LEED?
LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is
an internationally recognized green building certification
system,  providing third-party verification that a building or
community was designed and built using strategies aimed at
improving performance across all the metrics that matter
most:
• energy savings

• water efficiency.

• CO2 emissions reduction.

• improved indoor environmental quality.

•stewardship of resources and sensitivity to their impacts.

WHAT IS GRIHA?

GRIHA IS AN ACRONYM FOR GREEN

RATING FOR INTEGRATED HABITAT
ASSESSMENT.

GRIHA IS A SANSKRIT WORD MEANING – ‘ABODE’.

A INNOVATIVE TOOL FOR SUSTAINABLE

DEVELOPMENT BY THE UNITED NATIONS.

A TOOL FOR IMPLEMENTING RENEWABLE

LOCATION : JAIPUR, RAJASTHAN

SITE AREA : 13,187.43 M2

BUILT-UP AREA : 23,920.94 M2

ENERGY CONSUMPTION REDUCTION : 40.81%

REDUCTION IN THE ENERGY CONSUMPTION
COMPARED TO GRIHA BENCHMARK EPI : 82.86
KWH/M2 /YEAR

GRIHA PROVISIONAL RATING : 4 STAR RATING

(VERSION: 3.1) YEAR OF COMPLETION : 2020
THE FOLLOWING STRATEGIES WERE ADOPTED TO REDUCE THE
BUILDING IMPACT ON THE NATURAL ENVIRONMENT:

SUSTAINABLE SITE PLANNING:

WATER MANAGEMENT:
• BUILDING SHADOW DOES NOT OBSTRUCT THE SOLAR ACCESS TO
NEIGHBORING BUILDING. • REDUCTION OF 50.48% FROM THE GRIHA BASE CASE HAS BEEN
DEMONSTRATED IN THE BUILDING WATER DEMAND BY INSTALLING
• AIR POLLUTION CONTROL MEASURES SUCH AS SITE BARRICADING, WATER EFFICIENT FIXTURES.
WHEEL WASHING FACILITY AND OTHER APPROPRIATE MEASURES WERE
STRICTLY ADHERED TO DURING CONSTRUCTION. • REDUCTION OF 60.75% FROM THE GRIHA BASE CASE HAS BEEN
DEMONSTRATED IN THE LANDSCAPE WATER DEMAND.

• HESSIAN CLOTH WAS USED FOR CURING OF COLUMNS AND

PONDING TECHNIQUE WAS USED FOR CURING OF SLABS.

SUSTAINABLE BUILDING MATERIALS:

ENERGY OPTIMIZATION AND OCCUPANT COMFORT: • AAC BLOCKS HAVE BEEN USED IN THE PROJECT TO REDUCE
EMBODIED ENERGY OF THE BUILDING.
• FOR ACHIEVING VISUAL COMFORT: » 39.22% OF THE TOTAL LIVING
AREA IS DAY-LIT AND MEETS THE DAYLIGHT FACTOR AS PRESCRIBED BY • POZZOLANA PORTLAND CEMENT WITH 34% FLY-ASH CONTENT BY
NBC 2005. » 100% OF THE OUTDOOR LIGHTS HAVE BEEN CONNECTED WEIGHT HAS BEEN USED IN PLASTER AND MASONRY MORTAR.
WITH AUTOMATIC SWITCHES.
• 88.54% OF THE MATERIALS USED FOR FLOORING WERE LOW ENERGY.
• FOR ACHIEVING THERMAL COMFORT: » EPI REDUCTION OF 40.81%
FROM THE GRIHA BASE CASE HAS BEEN DEMONSTRATED THROUGH
THE INTEGRATION OF HIGH PERFORMANCE SYSTEMS.
WASTE MANAGEMENT:

• MULTI-COLORED BINS HAVE BEEN PROVIDED AT EACH

FLOOR LEVEL TO COLLECT AND SEGREGATE WASTE AT
SOURCE.

• A DEDICATED PLACE HAS BEEN PROVIDED ON SITE TO STORE

SEGREGATED WASTE PRIOR TO DISPOSAL.
