PLC Device Settings

General Tab:
Always ensure that you choose the correct CPU and memory for your selected
PLC, otherwise the PLC may not operate correctly.

Note: Some PLC CPUs include a fixed built-in memory which is displayed in the
Program Memory field, but greyed out because it cannot be changed. Where any
Memory option is selectable, you must select the memory size to match the
memory card in the CPU or expansion memory.

CPU Type - If available, choose the CPU Type to match the selected PLC’s CPU.
Program Memory - If available, choose the memory to match the fitted CPU
data memory (DM).
Expansion Memory - If available, choose the memory to match the fitted
expansion memory (EM).
File Memory - If available, choose the memory to match the CPU file data
memory card fitted.
Timer/Clock - If available, select the Timer for the selected PLC

You can set the program and expansion memory to read-only by selecting the

Network Type

SYSMAC-WAY
Provides a simple way of connecting a computer to a PLC or application for
monitoring and diagnostic purposes. It has a slower transmission speed than
SYSMAC LINK or Controller Link for example. The connections are either via
an RS232 interface for a PC to an individual PLC or an RS422 interface for
multiple PLC connections. You can set up the following connection
configurations:

Local: Used when the PLC is directly connected to a communications port on

your computer.
Bridge: Used when a PLC is at a remote location, and you are connected to a local
PLC which in turn is connected to a PLC network and the target machine.
SYSMAC-LINK
SYSMAC LINK is a high-speed (2Mbits/s) industrial network supporting the
connection of multiple PLC’s and one or more computers. Used when a
SYSMAC-LINK Network Support Board is installed in your computer for direct
connection to the PLC.

SYSMAC-NET
SYSMAC NET is a high-speed (2Mbits/s) LAN employed within medium to
large-scale systems. Used when the PLC is connected to a SYSMAC-NET
Network and your computer has a network support board fitted.

CONTROLLER-LINK
Used when a SYSMAC NET Network Support Board is installed in your
computer for direct connection to the PLC. Available as either Tokken Ring or
Token Bus.

TOOLBUS
A network operating in a similar manner to SYSMAC WAY except that it
transmits data in binary format. Connection is made to a PLC using its peripheral
port
PLC Auto Online

When Auto Online is selected, CX-Programmer will automatically get the

information of the PLC type and network settings from the connected PLC. It then
goes online to the connected PLC and asks if the data needs to be uploaded. If the
Yes button selected, transfers data from the PLC. If CX-Programmer fails to get
the information, an error message will be displayed. Programs, Symbol Tables, IO
Table, PLC Settings and Comments in the PLC will be uploaded to CX-
Programmer automatically.

Change the serial port for connecting automatically on the Select Serial Port
dialog. The default serial port is set to COM1.
