Starling Engine
It is important to note that the Stirling engine is the only one capable of approximating the
theoretical maximum performance known as Carnot performance. For this reason as far as
thermal engine performance is concerned, it is the ideal option
This class of engines have a high efficiency, when compared to steam engines, and a wide ease
to be applied to any source that generates heat.
However, even though it has more power it is only used in some specialized applications.
FUNDAMENTALS
Two levels of temperature are used which causes there to be a net conversion of
thermal energy into mechanical energy (mechanical work).
2. Cold zone:
In this part, heat is extracted from the engine. Heat extraction
can be performed by free or forced convection
3.Regenerative:
It is a piece of material that can store heat while allowing air to
pass around it.
4. Piston:
This part is the one that performs the motor work and the one
connected to the movement transformation mechanism
5. Displacer:
This part is responsible for moving the air from one area to
another. This part must be able to generate a temperature
gradient between the hot zone and the cold zone.
