VOICE AND DICTION
VOICE -is the sound made by a human being using the vocal folds for speaking. DICTION -is the art of speaking so that each word is clearly heard and understood. 2. FACE. Facial expressions are important in conveying emotions. A public speaker must show a positive and appropriate facial expression to the audience. Avoid a poker face or a dead-pan face.

BODY POSTURE CHARACTERISTICS OF AN EFFECTIVE PUBLIC SPEAKER 1. MENTAL ABILITY A public speaker must have a presence of mind with well- organized, well –structured and well-planned. 2. PLEASANT PERSONALITY Personality is set of behaviors, cognition and emotional traits. Pleasant Personality is characterized by pleasing manners and appearance. GUIDE QUESTIONS ON PERSONAL GROOMING

combed? 3. SELF-CONFIDENCE Self-confidence in public speaking is the positive feeling of speaker that he has the courage to face and stand in front of a large group of people. 4. ATTITUDE This is the bodily posture showing disposition, mood and opinion. Some Distracting Mannerism that MUST BE AVOIDED: a. Pulling your ears or nose b. Scratching/ Rubbing your skin c. Looking at the ceiling or out of the window d. Putting your hands on your pocket e. Shifting eyes constantly f. Cracking knuckles 4. Do I possess good posture?
Posture- is the individual’s bearing that
includes standing, walking and sitting. A Public speaker should be at ease, walk with grace, be snappy and attentive in front of the audience. 5. Do I have attentive facial expressions? 6. Do I have winsome or magnetic smile to the audience?
7. Do I assume a friendly and an
amiable attitude toward my audience? 5. PERSONAL INTEGRITY - The quality of being trustworthy, honest with your yourself and others and showing a consistent adherence to strong moral and ethical principles HOW DO YOU DEMONSTRATE INTEGRITY? Keep your word. If you want to establish a solid reputation you must deliver on your promises. Keep your commitments Stay focused Take responsibility Show respect to everyone (audience) 5. TRAINING Training will greatly affect the life of the speaker because it will develop and improve the ability and personality of the speaker. METHOD Method is the umbrella or the overall technique for the proper presentation of the speech to achieve the desired objectives and purposes of the speech.
