Power steering belt tension check

Make sure that the indicator mark is within the

area marked with A in the illustration.
If the mark is out of the area, replace the
power steering belt.

Valve clearance check

Standard value (cold engine)

Intake valve: 0.09 mm
Exhaust valve: 0.14 mm

Idle speed
750 ± 50 r/min
Compression pressure

Standard value (at engine speed of 250 r/min): 2,500 kPa

Limit (at engine speed of 250 r/min): Minimum 1,750 kPa

Measure the compression pressure for all the cylinders, and check that the pressure
differences of the cylinders are below the limit.
Limit: max 300 kPa

Connecting rod cap bolt

The connecting rod cap bolts and nuts are

tightened using the torque-to-yield method.
For this reason, each bolt to be reused must
be checked for elongation before installation.

Whether or not the bolt has been elongated

can be determined by running a nut with
fingers through all the threads of the bolt.

If the nut does not turn smoothly over all the

threads, the bolt has been elongated and
must be replaced.
