What is MS Teams and Why this change?

• Through the COVID-19 crisis, the increased virtual workforce has found that Skype for Business does not allow
for a consistent, quality experience for video conferences when not in the office. 

• Microsoft Teams, also referred to as simply Teams, is a unified communication and collaboration platform that
combines persistent workplace chat, video meetings, file storage (including collaboration on files), and
application integration.

• Since Teams is a newly developed application without any legacy, it enables a more modern form of
communication out of the box– with support for likes, gifs, emoticons, live link previews, etc. that enriches your
communication.

• Teams is a fully cloud-based solution, the move to the cloud is seamless. Being able to access information from
anywhere on any device is a huge business benefit.

Benefits of MS Teams:
• Microsoft Teams helps make it easier for users to find the information that they are looking for. It divides
information into selected channels, so you’ll only be able to view messages, documents, and meetings
pertaining to that channel.

• Teams makes it easier for users to integrate with apps like Outlook, SharePoint Online, Office Online, Onenote,
which means users don’t have to exit the app in order to complete their tasks.

• @-mention the people you want to get notified and leave it for everyone else to read if they want.

How To create a group:


• First, click Chats on the left side of the application, you shall have a search tab where you can search for the
name of the person

• On the right corner you have the icon to add people in the chat. Add members as required.

• Once you have the selected number of people in the chat you can prefer to name this group by using icon

Note: There will be a separate process for requesting a Teams Collaboration Space

How to setup a call
• Once you have MS Teams installed, you ll have the Teams add-in

• Similar to Skype for Business, you can invite a maximum of 250


Participants in a Meeting.
• For external clients, please enter complete email id.
• If External clients do not have Teams installed, they can use the web
App to attend the call. Click here for more details.

How to install Teams on Mobile

• Open the Apple/Google App Store on your device.

• Tap the Search icon in the store and type Microsoft Teams. Make sure you choose the Microsoft app, as
shown.

• Tap the download link to install the app on your device.

• Once the app has finished downloading and installing, tap the Open button.
• When you first open the Teams mobile app, you are presented
with a sign-in screen where you can choose to sign in to Teams

• Tap the Sign In button and then enter your Office credentials.

Note: If you have already signed in to any other Office 365 app
on your mobile device, such as Outlook, you can just select
that account and Teams will automatically log you in using
the credentials that are already cached on the device.

Points to note while using Teams

• Skype will remain the enterprise tool for IM/chat, audio conferencing, and screen sharing.
Minimum Version requirement

• Dialing capability is not in scope – there will be no dial pad available and no telephone number available to join
a web conference call - KB0020036

• MS Teams works PC to PC but does not work in our conference rooms. Skype will still be used for conference
room meetings. Click KB0020028 for more details.

• Recording Feature is with limited access in MS Teams. Skype is recommended - KB0020037

• If users are joining via IE, video might not work. Internet Explorer is not a supported browser for Microsoft
Teams meetings. You must join a Teams meeting using a newer browser – MS Edge.

• If you have a group chat you will only be able to start a video conference from that if you are 20 participants
or less in that group chat.

• If you schedule a meeting or invite to a meeting you can be 250 participants in that meeting.
