IT'S AFFECTS

• Social media is taking over people's lives, making them

create 'online' personas different from real life
• A recent study has shown that 48°/o of youths now get
their news fram Facebook.
• This can be seen as a positive though, with social
networking sites enabling individuals to keep up with
current news and trends.
• But not all information on the 'internet' can be trusted,
with fake news and rumors being mistaken as "verified
news" very often these days.
''SOCIAL ACTIVITIES REALLY ARE
BECOMING LESS AND LESS 'SOCIAL' BY
THE MINUTE."
AFFECTS ON OTHER SOURCES OF MEDIA

Facebook to serve as a "WORLD NEWSPAPER."

print newspapers in ad revenue in 2010.
• We're getting news as it happens-sometimes even
before news organizations have a chance to report it.
• Not only this, but with BBC News and Mail Online
replacing newspapers & Pinterest and lnstagram

CONCLUSION

• Social media has both good and bad aspects to it.

• It is encouraging younger people to interact with news,
politics and issues beyond what they might encounter in
their day to day lives.
• However, there is a tipping point where people do spend
too long online and are influenced the wrong way when
they take on false information.
• Yes, social media has taken over our lives, but it is the
way we use it that determines whether that is a good or
bad thing.
