ADVANTAGES AND

DISADVANTAGES
OF GEODESIC
STRUCTURES
ADVANTAGES:
- Geodesic Domes have a high stability and easy
construction which is sturdy, they are ideal for almost
any type of spaces.
- Have an aerodynamic shape, which protects them
against strong wind or storms.
- During severe weather and natural disasters, the
balanced distribution of weight throughout the structure
make it stable.
- Can be enormous in size with less surface area, that
means less materials are used and more space is
available inside the building.
- Has less surface per unit of internal volume, conductive
to even temperatures and more efficient air circulation.
- Very quick and easy to assemble, making them less
labor intensive.
- Sustainable and extremely energy efficient.
DISADVANTAGE:
- The financing and rescale
- The unstable space inside
- Fitting doors and windows into a dome structure is much more of a challenge.
You have to custom make all doors and windows needed.
- Expansion and portioning is difficult. It needs proficient or expert labors.
- Geodesic knowledge is greatly needed for such building.
- Planning permission can also be a problem as drainage and fire escapes can
be an issue and they need to meet code requirements.
