Embroidery hoop / stiletto

•Made of wood , metal or plastic, it is use


to keep the fabric stretched while
embroidery stitches are applied on the
design.
Embroidery scissor – is small , sharp and pointed good for fine work use for trimming scallops, clipping threads and cutting large eyelets.

Needle threader- used for easier threading especially by those sewers with poor eyesight.
Pounce – is used for transferring design by pricking method

Embroidery needle – short piece of steel with fine point and little opening or eye at the center.

•Needle should always have fine tip so that


they can easily move in and out of the fabric.
Crewell -sizes- 1-10 cm are sharp-pointed
medium length with large eyes for easy
threading, it is used for most standard
embroidery stitchery.

Chanille – size 13-26 cm. Sharp pointed


needles but they are thicker and longer and
have larger eyes.
Pin cushion –to keep pins and needles in
place.

Tracing Paper- used for tracing designs .

Sewing box – to keep sewing tools in place.


Fabric- cloth with variety of kinds and texture, weave, designs and color.
3 Types of Fabric
1. Common Weave – most tightly woven fabric with relatively smooth surface like linen , wool and cotton . Best used for articles with decorative stitches.
Basket weave – commonly used for beginners and ramie linen by those who been used to those embroidery.

2.Even weave- intended for hardanger embroidery


Thread --is available in various type they differ in texture, fiber content , colors and strands.
1.Back Stitch- it forms the base line in
embroidery.
Running Stitch- the easiest stitch for
outlining
Bullion Stitches stitch-kind of stitch to filling in the design area .
Lazy daisy stitch- detached chain stitch,
work in circle to resemble petals of flowers.
Blanket stitch -
Herringbone stitch-overlapping stitch
popular for its used in borders.
Feather stitch –with a loop and stitches evenly
worked on both left and right sides of design
area.
Fish Bone stitch-a filling stitch ideal for
making feather and leaves.
Cross stitch –formed by two crossing and
may be used for outlining as borders or to fill
in entire area.
French Knot Stitch –a popular stitch among
embroiderers used to create eyes and center of flowers.
Looped Stitch- a decorative stitch and can be
experimented with threads for various colors over borders.
