This document provides a step-by-step procedure for dismantling a multi-cylinder internal combustion (I.C.) engine. It lists the components that need to be removed in the following order: guards and covers, cylinder head, fuel system, crankcase cover, camshaft and pushrods, pistons and connecting rods, and finally the flywheel and crankshaft. For each step, it identifies the specific tools needed to remove each component.

PREPARE A STEP-BY-STEP PROCEDURE FOR
DISMANTLING AND ASSEMBLY OF MULTI
CYLINDER I.C. ENGINE. TABULATE DIFFERENT TOOLS USED IN DISMANTLING OF I.C. ENGINES AGAINST COMPONENTS FOR WHICH THESE TOOLS ARE USED. PRESENTED BY :- 1) SUJAL RAIJADE 2) ROSHAN MEVADA 3) VEDANT CHAUDHARI 4) MIHIR MEHTA DISMANTLING OF I.C. ENGINE Guarding and Cover Removal • Remove the Flywheel Shroud (or Blower Housing). • Remove Cylinder Shroud (or Cooling Fin Cover). • Remove the small Side Shroud next to the flywheel. DISMANTLING OF I.C. ENGINE Cylinder Head Removal • Remove the Spark Plug, use the 13/16" spark plug socket and ratchet. • Remove the Cylinder Head, it is attached by seven 3/8" bolts. • Examine the cylinder head and take notice of the distinctive shape on the inside on the head. • With the Cylinder Head removed the piston and valves can be clearly seen. DISMANTLING OF I.C. ENGINE Fuel System Removal • Remove the two 3/8" muffler bolts, use the 3/8“ open end wrench. • Unbolt the two Intake Manifold bolts using the 3/8“ open-end wrench. • Remove the 3/8" mounting bolt for the fuel system located at the base of the engine. DISMANTLING OF I.C. ENGINE Crankcase Cover Removal
• Remove the seven Crankcase Cover 3/8" bolts using
the 3/8" socket and ratchet. • Once all of the bolts have been removed slide the Crankcase Cover off the Cylinder Block. • Once the Crankcase Cover has been removed the Crankshaft, Camshaft, Connecting Rod, and Push Rods can be clearly seen. DISMANTLING OF I.C. ENGINE Camshaft and Pushrod Removal • Rotate the flywheel until the Exhaust Valve is in the fully raised position. Then place a holder (i.e. popsicle stick) to keep the valve raised. • Remove the Camshaft by sliding it out. • Remove the Crankshaft Gear by sliding it off. DISMANTLING OF I.C. ENGINE Piston and Connecting Rod Removal • Rotate the Flywheel until the two 1/4" bolts on the big end of the Connecting Rod are accessible. • Remove the Piston from the Cylinder Block by pushing it upwards and out using the Connecting Rod. DISMANTLING OF I.C. ENGINE Flywheel and Crankshaft Removal • Remove the Flywheel start clutch using the large pipe pliers. Once loosened the retainer may be unscrewed in a counter clockwise direction. • Then use the rubber mallet if necessary to penalty tap the end of the Crankshaft on the same end as the Flywheel so that the Flywheel slides off the Crankshaft.
