A. Strong’s Definition - G907

fully wet); used only (in the New
Testament) of ceremonial
ablution, especially (technically)
of the ordinance of Christian
baptism: - baptist, baptize, wash.
G911 βάπτω A primary verb;
to whelm, that is, cover wholly
with a fluid; in the New

The Theology of baptism

A.Baptism is necessary “to fulfill

all righteousness.”
Mat 3:15 And Jesus answering
said unto him, Suffer it to be so
now: for thus it becometh us to
fulfill all righteousness. Then he
suffered him.
B.Baptism is essential for
salvation
Mark 16:16 He that believeth
and is baptized shall be
saved; but he that believeth
not shall be damned
C.Baptism is for the
remission of sins (Acts
2:38)
(Mark 1:4) John did
baptize in the wilderness,
and preach the baptism of
repentance for the
remission of sins.
(Luke 3:3) And he came
into all the country about
Jordan, preaching the
baptism of repentance
for the remission of sins;
(Acts 2:38) Then Peter
said unto them, Repent,
and be baptized every one
of you in the name of
Jesus Christ for the
remission of sins, and ye
shall receive the gift of the
Holy Ghost.
D.Baptism is a command:
Acts 10:48 And he
commanded them to be
baptized in the name of the
Lord. Then prayed they him
to tarry certain days.
E.Baptism identifies one with
Christ
“Col. 2:12 – “buried with him
in baptism..”
Gal 3:27 For as many of you
as have been baptized into
Christ have put on Christ.
F.Baptism saves us:
1Pe 3:21 The like figure
whereunto even baptism doth
also now save us (not the
putting away of the filth of the
flesh, but the answer of a good
conscience toward God,) by the
resurrection of Jesus Christ
G.Baptism is by
immersion
Mat 3:16 And Jesus,
when he was baptized,
went up straightway
out of the water:
John 3:23 And John also was
baptizing in Aenon near to
Salim, because there was much
water there.
Act 8:38 And he commanded
the chariot to stand still: and
they went down both into the
water, both Philip and the
eunuch; and he baptized him
Acts 8:39 And when they were
come up out of the water, the
Spirit of the Lord caught away
Philip,
Heb. 10:22 Let us draw near
with a true heart in full
assurance of faith, having our
hearts sprinkled from an evil
conscience, and our bodies
washed with pure water..
Rom 6:4 Therefore we are buried with
him by baptism into death: that like as
Christ was raised up from the dead by
the glory of the Father, even so we
also should walk in newness of life.
Rom 6:5 For if we have been planted
together in the likeness of his death,
we shall be also in the likeness of his
resurrection.
H.Baptism is in the name of
Jesus:
A. Then Peter said unto
them, Repent, and be
baptized every one of you in
the name of Jesus Christ for
the remission of sins, and ye
shall receive the gift of the
Holy Ghost.
