Foreword

 The telecommunications industry is being transformed and upgraded towards

virtualization and cloudification. Network functions virtualization (NFV) has become
much more mature, especially in the EPC field.
 Well-developed virtualization technologies allow different software-based telecom
NEs to be integrated into the same hardware device.
 By using a virtualization platform, core network can integrate multiple core network
NEs. Flexible configurations are offered to meet different service requirements in
different scenarios.

 A virtual machine monitor (VMM) is the functional unit that implements virtualization. It virtualizes the
processor, memory, storage, and network resources of a physical machine (PM) so that the PM can
function as multiple VMs.
