What water can do?

SIGNIFICANCE
In alignment to Science
Technology Development
Priorities, this study focuses on
Environment.

In relation with that, this study

will address current issue which
is the widely-spreading water
pollution.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
The aim of this
study is to make an
organic, low-cost,
and portable, yet
reliable water filter
which will then be
used in treating
contaminated water.
Following are the objectives will
stablish the success of the aim of this
study:
(1) Examining the properties of
woodchips and oyster mushroom
mycelium.
(2) Assessing the potential of
woodchips and mycelium, including their
physical form as layer for filtering
contaminated water.
Related Researches/Study
• Research of Mnkandla and Otomo
(July 28, 2021) entitled “Efectiveness
of mycofltration for removal of
contaminants from water: a
systematic review protocol”

• Study of Chandra and Mishra (July

14, 2021) entitle “Impact of
mycofiltration on water quality”
Methodology
Variables Parameters

Independent: Portable • Number of contaminants in

Mycofilter (Oyster Mushroom water
Mycelium and Woodchips) • Cleanliness of water
• Color and physical
Dependent: Contaminated appearance of water
water from river • Level of filtration of water
Controlled: Quality of water
Materials
Broken plastic bucket
oyster mushroom mycelium
Woodchips
nylon filter mesh
Scissors or Utility knife
Smallest sized nail
Hammer
Hot water
Rubber bands
Microscope
Contaminated water from river
Treatment
The product of this study will be use
to treat contaminated water by
passing through its layers.
Furthermore, they will be comparing
the components of the treated water
to the untreated one.
Procedures

Creation of
Collection and the filter;
Testing of
preparation of layering of the
Product
materials main
components
Statistical Analysis
QUANTITATIVE DATA APPROACH

The percentage of pathogens, unused minerals,

heavy metals and other harmful organisms such
as bacteria are the basis of the comparison
between the unfiltered raw water from river and
treated water by portable mycofilter.
RESEARCH DESIGN
• Experimental Research

• BETWEEN-SUBJECTS DESIGN
One other existing sample will be compared to
this filter which will use mycelium and
woodchips as its main components.
EVALUATION METHOD AND OBSERVATION
The researchers will observe the effectivity of
the portable mycofilter in removing different
contaminants in water such as organic and
inorganic. The researchers are the ones that will
facilitate the experiment starting from the
collection of samples down to the performing of
experimentation.
EXPECTED OUTPUT AND POTENTIAL IMPACT
Outcome

In shorter way of expressing, the future product will

become a great addition for treating contaminated
water as a result of the fact that this portable
mycorfilter has something to do with filtering water,
specifically in removing different contaminants
from it.
