Statement of the Problem
The study aims to investigate the causes, behavior manifestations of students who lack self-confidence, and
support systems needed by students to boost self-confidence.

Specifically, this study seeks answers to the following questions:


1. What are the root causes of lack of self-confidence in adolescents?
2. What kind of behavior do adolescents who lack self-confidence manifest?
3. What can the following groups of people do to boost up self-confidence of adolescents?

Subject: Designing Effective Instructional Strategies
Statement of the Problem
This study seeks to explore the views of junior high school students regarding statistics as a
subject and its effective instructional strategies.

Specifically, this study seeks answers to the following questions:


1. What are the different perceptions of students on statistics?
2. What factors could have influenced the students perceptions on the subject?
3. What instructional strategies may be adopted to positively influence and offset students’ negative views
on statistics?

study?

study?

formulated aiming to answer the main problem? In

Statement of the Problem (SOP)

 Heart of the study (focus, breadth and depth, direction, time required)
 Composed of general problem and specific problems
 Sequence logically
 Considers writing mechanics (capitalization, punctuation, spelling,
spacing, and the like)

 Provides the overall picture and direction of the study
 Should be written in narrative form

2. Specific Problem
 Are generated from the general problem
 Each question is directed to answer a specific finding for the general problem
 Usually written in question form

 Reading relevant articles in journals, books, magazines, studies, and other


reading materials can help you formulate good research problems.

The study intends to generate new models for categorizing and understanding concepts and
beliefs about good teaching.
Specifically, this study seeks to answer the questions:

2. What personal and social qualities of teachers are related to good teaching?
3. What knowledge and pedagogical processes are related to good teaching?
 This study seeks to explore absenteeism from nonmandatory synchronous sessions in the virtual learning
environment, Wimba Classroom, by undergraduate and graduate students in online courses at a southern
university.
