ILOs: At the end of the session the students should
be able to:
1. discuss different conventional general cargo
handling equipment such as:
• Deck cranes
• Ship’s derricks
• Cargo gears
"Non-dangerous goods" in shipping refer to items,
products, or substances that do not pose significant
risks to human health, safety, property, or the
environment during transportation. These goods are
considered safe to handle, store, and transport
without special precautions or regulatory
requirements beyond standard shipping practices.
This are typically stable, non-toxic, non-flammable,
and non-reactive, and they do not exhibit properties
that could cause harm or danger under normal
conditions of transport. As a result, they do not
require specialized packaging, labeling, or handling
procedures like dangerous goods do.

or from the deck to other parts of the vessel.
