INTRODUCTION
• Please take note that it has been noticed that the workflow in the dental
department is not up to standards and is having an impact on the entire dental
team, as well as the patients. You are part of one of the best dental clinic in the
UAE, and we expect you to work in a professional and organized manner.
• It's important to recognize that everyone’s work directly influences the clinic's
reputation, and the clinic's reputation is considered an integral part of your own
reputation.
• To address these issues, we will be holding series of weekly training sessions. I
expect to see progress on all the points that will be mentioned. Let's maintain a
professional and collaborative environment as we work towards our common
goals.
PROBLEMS
Patient Care:
1. Prepare patients for dental procedures.
2. Arrange dental instruments.
3. Assist the dentist during procedures.
4. Take and develop dental X-rays.
5. Write the dentists’ notes and document procedures.
6. Save the pictures of each patient on the server.
7. Communicate and trace down laboratory cases.
DENTAL ASSISTANTS’
RESPONSIBILITIES
Administrative Duties:
1. Dental material inventory – updated as per management’s instructions.
2. Maintain dental supplies in dental room and store.
3. Keep the reception area and treatment rooms clean and organized.
Infection Control:
4. Follow strict infection control protocols.
5. Disinfect and sterilize equipment.
6. Dispose of hazardous materials.

1. Provide guidance and mentorship to other dental assistants in the team.
2. Ensure that dental assistants are following best practices and protocols.
3. Coordinate the daily activities of the dental assistant team.
4. Act as a liaison between the dental team, patients, and the front office.
5. Train dental assistants and hold refreshing courses for dental assistants.
• Training and Development:
1. Train new dental assistants.
2. Provide ongoing education and training to the team.
3. Ensure that all team members are up-to-date with the latest industry regulations and guidelines.

DENTAL UNIT-INFECTION CONTROL
Patient Interaction:
a. Prepare the treatment room at least 15 minutes before the patient arrives.
b. Once the patient arrives, inform the doctor about the patients’ arrival and ask to let the patient
in.
c. Greet the patient, let them to the dental room, ensure their comfort.
d. Ask the patient to sign procedure-specific consent form for scaling and polishing, and is
available on the server.
e. Place the patient napkin once the patient has sat down on the dental chair.
f. Put on clean protective eyewear for the patient. If the eyewear is not clean or broken, do not
use it.
DURING- PROCEDURE CARE
a. Once the procedure is done, use suction and soft tissue underneath the patient's
mouth.
b. Assist the patient in rinsing their mouth, give them soft facial tissue.
c. Remove patient eyewear.
d. Remove patient napkin.
