What comes to mind when we hear

about the word “GRATITUDE”?

• the quality of being thankful;
• readiness to show appreciation for and to return
kindness;
• word used to express thankfulness and praise.
Name some blessings
in your life. Why are you
grateful for them?
Thanksgiving is the act of expressing
specific gratitude to God for the blessings
God has given us, whether those things
are physical, spiritual or material.

As believers we should see an attitude of

thanksgiving develop in our lives
One sign that Jesus Christ is living in your
heart is gratitude.
Someone once said that God lives in two
places. He lives in heaven and in a
humble, grateful heart.
Psalms 92:1-2
"It is good to praise the LORD and make music to
your name, O Most High to proclaim your love in the
morning and your faithfulness at night."
Ang magpasalamat kay Yahweh ay mabuting bagay,
umawit na lagi purihin ang ngalang Kataas-taasan.
Pag-ibig niyang wagas ay dapat ihayag, kung
bukang-liwayway, pagsapit ng gabi ang katapatan
niya'y ihayag din naman.
Colossians 2:6
So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord,
continue to live your lives in him
Colossians 4:2
Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.
Philippians 4:6
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation,
by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your
requests to God.
Now why do you think we’re so inclined to forget God and
live as ungrateful people?
1. We Are Ungrateful Because of Affluence
1 TIMOTEO 6:7-10
7 Wala tayong dinalang anuman sa sanlibutan, at wala rin tayong
madadalang anuman pag-alis dito. 8 Kaya, dapat tayong masiyahan kung
tayo'y may pagkain at pananamit.
Now why do you think we’re so inclined to forget God and
live as ungrateful people?
2. We Are Ungrateful Because of Pride
PSALMS 10:4
In his pride the wicked does not seek God; in all his thoughts
there is no room for Him

MGA AWIT 104

Ang sabi ng masasamang tao, “Diyos ay walang pakialam,” sabi
nila'y “walang Diyos,” dahil sa kanilang kahambugan.
Now why do you think we’re so inclined to forget God and
live as ungrateful people?
3. We Are Ungrateful Because of Who We Hang
Around With
1 Corinthians 15:33
Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character”
Now why do you think we’re so inclined to forget God and
live as ungrateful people?

4. We Are Ungrateful Because of Circumstances

Exodus 14:10-11
10 As Pharaoh approached, the Israelites looked up, and there
were the Egyptians, marching after them. They were terrified and
cried out to the Lord. 11 They said to Moses, “Was it because
there were no graves in Egypt that you brought us to the desert to
die? What have you done to us by bringing us out of Egypt?

FOUR STEPS TO HAVING AN ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE
1. Remember How Much Gratitude Pleases
God
2 Chronicles 5:13-14
13 The trumpeters and musicians joined in unison to give praise and thanks
to the Lord. Accompanied by trumpets, cymbals and other instruments, the
singers raised their voices in praise to the Lord and sang:
“He is good;
his love endures forever.”
Then the temple of the Lord was filled with the cloud, 14 and the priests
could not perform their service because of the cloud, for the glory of the
Lord filled the temple of God.

2. Avoid Complaining At All Costs

and when he heard them his anger was aroused. Then fire from the Lord
burned among them and consumed some of the outskirts of the camp.

I meditated, and my spirit grew faint.

start praising.”

complaining and arguing so that you may become
blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a
crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like
stars in the universe."

for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

Thanks

everyday and prayed and gave thanks to his God.

3. Gratitude is contagious
What we say and do affects others. People are listening to us, so
we ought to be careful of what we say, especially around our
children and grandchildren. They are listening. Be careful not to
whine or complain, but to replace these attitudes with positive
words of thanks and appreciation. May we be role models of
gratitude. When you change your attitude those around you will
also change theirs.
