Introduction
Driving under the influence of alcohol has affected and killed countless of
people's lives. If you drink and drive, not only do you possibly put yourself at risk, but
your passengers and pedestrians, and other people, who were on roads. Every thirty
minutes someone's life is cut short and families are devastated.....So, here we implemented
a prototype version Alcohol Detection system in order to control drunk and driving as
much as we can.

This alcohol detection system works on a simple. principle, if a driver has been
drinking, the alcohol breath analyzer sensor will detect the level of alcohol in the driver's
breath and if it crosses a set threshold, an alert will come and the vehicle engine will stop
immediately. This project is designed for the safety of the people. seating inside/outside
the vehicle.
Background

The World Health Organization estimates that alcohol kills three million people throughout the world every year. In other
words, alcohol is the cause of 5.3% of all human deaths annually. About 1 in every 20 deaths worldwide is the result of an
alcohol-related disease, injury, accident, murder, or suicide.

An alcohol detection system is a technology designed to identify whether a person is under the influence of alcohol. It uses
various methods, such as breath analysis or touch-based sensors, to detect the presence of alcohol in a person's system. These
systems are more advanced than traditional methods like breathalyzers, offering improved accuracy and efficiency. They play a
crucial role in enhancing road safety by preventing individuals from driving when impaired and often integrate features like
smart alerts and engine locks to immediately address the issue.
Alcohol Detection systems overview

Breathalyzer-based Systems:
Traditional and widely used.
Measures Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) through breath samples.
Portable handheld devices for law enforcement and personal use.
Commonly used in roadside sobriety tests.

Touch-based Systems:
Incorporates technology to detect alcohol through skin contact.
Utilizes sensors to analyze perspiration or skin surface for alcohol presence.
Offers discreet and continuous monitoring.

In-vehicle Systems:
Integrated into the vehicle's ignition or driver's seat.
Utilizes breath or touch-based technology.
Designed to prevent the vehicle from starting if alcohol is detected.
Smart alert features

Visual Alerts:

• LED displays or indicators for drivers.

• Dashboard notifications.
• Heads-up displays integrated into windshields.

Auditory Alerts:

• Alarms or beeping sounds.

• Integration with vehicle audio systems.
• Customizable alert tones.

Haptic Alerts:

• Vibration-based alerts through steering wheels or seats.

• Wearable devices for drivers.
Engine Locking Integration
By integrating engine locking mechanisms with alcohol detection systems, the vehicle becomes a
proactive participant in preventing drunk driving incidents. This comprehensive approach not
only enforces sobriety but also acts as a strong deterrent, promoting a safer and more responsible
driving environment.

 How it Works:

• Disables the vehicle's ignition if alcohol is detected.

• Prevents the vehicle from starting.
• Ensures the driver is sober before operating the vehicle.

 Integration Options:

• Linked to breathalyzer or touch-based systems.

• Utilizes smart technology for seamless integration with vehicle systems.
• Customizable settings for enforcement and user preferences.

Applications of Alcohol Detection System with Smart alert and Engine
Lock Integration

Applications of Alcohol Detector in Car:

1) "Alcohol Detector project" can be used in the various vehicles for detecting whether the driver has consumed alcohol
or not.
2) This project can also be used in various companies or organization to detect alcohol consumption Of employees.
Challenges and future directions

The difficulty is in developing a trustworthy method for detecting alcohol that works well with Engine Lock and Smart Alerts. To
effectively prevent occurrences involving intoxicated driving, future approaches should focus on improving accuracy, reducing false
alerts, and improving user-friendliness. Some basic improvements may increase the accuracy.

 Integration of more advanced and accurate sensor technologies for alcohol detection, such as improved breathalyzers or non-
intrusive methods.
 Implementing machine learning algorithms to enhance the system's ability to adapt and improve accuracy over time based on user
behavior.
 Conducting public awareness campaigns and educational programs to promote the benefits of such systems and address concerns.
 Exploring integration possibilities with autonomous vehicle technologies to enhance overall safety features.
Conclusion
In conclusion, a very efficient and reasonably priced method of preventing alcohol use is an engine
locking system with GPS and an ESP-01S Wi-Fi module.
Increasing traffic safety and reducing drunk driving. The technology assists in lowering the likelihood of
accidents brought on by drunk driving by precisely identifying the presence of alcohol in a driver's breath and
shutting the engine if required.
Additionally, the GPS module offers real-time position monitoring, which enables fleet managers and car owners
to keep an eye on the whereabouts and movements of their fleet of cars.
Ensure that cars are being operated in compliance with corporate regulations and enhance fleet
management.
The system has several uses across several industries, including law enforcement, insurance firms, fleet
management, personal automobiles, and commercial vehicles. It is also simple to install in the majority of
vehicles.
