INTRANSITIVE VERBS
A
verb can be transitive or intransitive depending on
whether it is followed by a direct object.
Some verbs are actions that are done to an
object
Example:
Thuli learns Math.
(The action of learning is done to
something)
These verbs are called TRANSITIVE
Some verbs are not done to an object
For example;
The class listened. (to what?)
These verbs are called INTRANSITIVE
The finite verb is a
verb that stands
alone.
It has a subject, number,
tense.
It makes a complete sentence
together with the subject.
She plays.

SENTENCE STRUCTURE
We divide sentences into two main Subject & Predicate
parts.
SUBJECT:
What the sentence is about. Verb & object
Noun/Pronoun.

Let’s look at the predicate again.

The WHO or WHAT we are
talking about.
- i.e WHO / WHAT is performing
/ doing the verb to the object.

Answers the question of what is the noun
