place but may have been introduced by settlers or colonists, meaning they are not necessarily native to the area.

Abaca (Manila Hemp)

Shells come from the windowpane oyster, a bivalve marine mollusk in the family of Placunidae. These
shells are widely used for windows, lanterns, and decorative wall art.

Rattan
A naturally renewable palm belonging to the subfamily Calamoideae of climbing palms. Rattan is used
for furniture, handicrafts, and building materials.

Small or Cowrie Shells (Sigay)


Scientifically named Cypraea chinensi, measure about 2 centimeters each. These vibrant shells are used
for shell jewelry and crafts.
