Sheffield Wednesday have appointed a new Head of Recruitment.

Sheffield Wednesday have been without a Head of Recruitment for the best part of six months.

David Downes left at the start of the summer, dropping down a league to join Blackpool, with the Owls then going about their summer transfer window rather messily.

And it’s since turned out to be a rather poor showing in the transfer window with Sheffield Wednesday stuck at the bottom of the Championship table, and still relying on the old guard.

But the Owls announced today that they’ve appointed Kevin Beadell as their new Head of Recruitment.

Who is Kevin Beadell?

Beadell has worked in recruitment for nearly 30 years, having worked for the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal, and Cardiff City.

He joined United in 2001 and held a recruitment position there, working alongside Sir Alex Ferguson for nine years before joining Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal.

He had a brief spell as Head of Recruitment with the Gunners but mostly worked behind the scenes in the recruitment team.

Most recently, Beadell was Head of Recruitment at Cardiff City for three years.

What do the Sheffield Wednesday fans think of the appointment?

On the whole, Wednesday fans seem pretty happy with this appointment.

It’s another experienced addition to the backroom team which now looks very well-rounded, and having a Head of Recruitment in time for January can only be a positive for the Owls.

Beadell’s experience speaks for itself and he’ll hope to oversee a positive January, working closely with Danny Rohl to give Sheffield Wednesday an improved chance of survival this season.
