Senior members of the British royal family are taking on more responsibilities amid King Charles III’s cancer diagnosis. Among those royals who are stepping up for the House of Windsor, Queen Camilla is sticking to her schedule of engagements. During her most recent public appearance, the queen consort offered an update on how the monarch is coping with his health.
Queen Camilla attended the Musical Evening at Salisbury Cathedral, which celebrated the work of numerous local charities. Upon arrival, Queen Camilla offered some encouraging words regarding the monarch’s health. “He is doing extremely well under the circumstances. We are very touched by all of the letters and messages,” she said, according to Town & Country.
The last several days have been an absolute whirlwind for the royal family. At the start of the year, all appeared to be going well until news broke that Kate Middleton underwent abdominal surgery and her recovery could keep her out of the public eye until Easter. Roughly the same day, it was announced that King Charles would undergo treatment for an enlarged prostate. During his hospital stay, however, physicians discovered a form of cancer, which has not been publicly disclosed.
With the king and the Princess of Wales unable to attend to their itineraries, Queen Camilla and Prince William have stepped up. Prince William, in particular, is focusing on taking on more responsibilities while his wife recovers and his father continues treatment. All the while, the Prince of Wales is also raising his three young children with Kate.
Though this certainly isn’t the way King Charles likely wanted to begin this next chapter and new year in his reign, it is encouraging to hear he is doing well under the circumstances. The monarch’s team has been relatively forthcoming regarding updates on King Charles’ health. We’ll continue to follow new developments as they come to light.
