Buckwheat seed will grow rapidly if sown early in the spring or summer and will produce good levels of biomass that will help with weed suppression. Buckwheat is great at scavenging key nutrients such as phosphates. Buckwheat will then hold on to these nutrients releasing them upon incorporation into the soil. These nutrients then become available to the next crop. Buckwheat seed, although best drilled, can be broadcast into standing crops with trials showing good germination levels when rainfall has occurred soon after,
