STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Joseph N. Frisina, 69, of Wayne, N.J., a former Staten Islander and a retired software engineer, died Saturday at home.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, he moved to Westerleigh in 1973 and lived there until 2002, when he relocated to Wayne.
He earned his bachelor of science degree in physics from Manhattan College, the Bronx, and later received master's degrees in computer science and physics.
He had a 45-year career at BAE Systems, Wayne, where he was manager of advanced software technology. He also was an adjunct professor for 25 years at Fairleigh Dickinson University, Hackensack, N.J. and the City University of New York, Manhattan.
Photography was a favorite leisure pursuit.
Mr. Frisina served on the initial board of trustees at Sonrise Christian Church, New Springville, and taught Bible study classes at Calvary Assembly of God Church, Eltingville.
He attended Bethany Church, Wyckoff, N.J.
His son, Daniel, died in 1985.
Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Joan Marie; his son, Joseph D.; his daughter, Melisa Ann Vaccaro; two brothers, Patrick and Nicholas, and three grandchildren.
The funeral service will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in Bethany Church. Burial will follow in Ocean View Cemetery, Oakwood. Arrangements are being handled by the Vander May Wayne Colonial Funeral Home, Wayne.
