Brazilian clinches move from Benfica

Brazil international Ramires has finalised his switch from Benfica to Chelsea and is looking forward to the challenge ahead. The Blues have been trying to push through the move for some time and everything has now been resolved after he was granted a work permit and passed a medical. Ramires has put pen to paper on a four-year contract, with the two clubs having agreed a fee of around £16.3million. The midfielder, 23, will not be available for Chelsea's opening game of the Premier League season against West Brom on Saturday. He will link up with his new squad next week and, after impressing for Benfica last season, is now determined to shine at Stamford Bridge. "Every player in the world would love to play for Chelsea and it's a great opportunity that was given to me," he told the club's official website. "I will give my best to repay this chance, and I am very happy." Manager Carlo Ancelotti had already expressed his excitement at the prospect of working with Ramires before the deal was completed. The manager said: "He is a fantastic player, a fantastic midfielder, he is very young and will be the future of the Brazilian national team, and I hope he will be the future of Chelsea."
