geophysics, because of significant progress in computer technology. Using NMR as a

A study on leachate characteristics generated from waste foundry sand and its...eSAT Journals Abstract Metal foundry industries use sand as the major part in the metal casting process. Foundry industries are the industries which mould the metal (alloy) castings, the castings are casted by using the molten metals, which are poured into the moulds prepared by the sand (usually known as foundry sand), and here the foundry sand is subjected to the temperature which is higher than 1000ºC in the moulding process. The waste sand obtained after the casting, cannot be used further and thus the Waste Foundry Sand (WFS) is removed from the foundry industry and it is known as waste foundry sand. Waste foundry sand generated from the metal foundries is indiscriminately dumped in the low lying areas of Belagavi city. Belagavi city receives high annual rainfall around 1200 mm. The WFS dumped contains the heavy metal concentrations. Leachate is generated from the WFS containing heavy metals and the heavy metals are leached from the WFS, thus the ground water is contaminated. Water samples from a lake, 5 open wells and a bore well in the Udyambag area were collected and analyzed for Physico-chemical characteristics and heavy metal concentrations. The leaching effect of the WFS is analyzed using TCLP. The leaching effect of the WFS is also studied when it is a part of pervious concrete and the heavy metal analysis is carried out. The ground water and surface water body study includes the Physico-chemical parameters like chlorides, TDS, SC, pH, turbidity, colour, odour, temperature and the heavy metals like barium, total chromium, iron, lead and manganese. Phylogenetic Analysis of the Potential Microorganism for Remediation of Heavy...CSCJournals The present research work has been carried out to study the waste disposal contaminated site for its physico chemical and microbial characterization and identification of potential microorganism capable of bioaccumulation and biodegradation of heavy metals. The ambient conditions present in the metal contaminated environment shows the values: pH(5.4),temperature(30°C), moisture(11.71%), nutrients; Nitrogen(0.2mg/l), phosphorus(22.65mg/l) and sulphur(559.3mg/l) respectively. The biological parameters studied indicate Dissolved oxygen (7.4mg/l), Biological oxygen demand (3.8 mg/l), Chemical oxygen demand (64.6 mg/l). The microbial consortium identified was found to survive and multiply in the present environmental conditions. Microbial consortium was sequenced and compared using Bioinformatics tools like BLAST, ClustalW and PHYLIP. In order to identify potential microorganism, microbial consortium was exposed to increasing concentrations of heavy metals viz 5mg/l, 25mg/l, 50mg/l, 100mg/l up to 800mg/l with special reference to Iron. At a concentration of 500mg/l, only one microorganism was found survived and multiplied. This shows that potential microorganism was only survived at higher concentration of iron. The 16SrRNA sequence and phylogenetic tree characterized the organism as Klebsiella pneumoniae, which was also confirmed by biochemical tests. The potential microorganism identified by BLAST technique can be used for remediation of the heavy metal from contaminated environment.

The Business Model Canvas (BMC) by Alex Osterwalder and Yves Pigneur has been widely used as a tool for analyzing, designing and visualizing the business model of new and existing for-profit business ventures. However, the analytic framework of BMC is incomplete when one is trying to develop the business model for a social venture that seeks to achieve specific social impacts as a primary goal, with financial viability as a secondary, albeit important, consideration. This presentations introduces a purpose-driven approach to business model design, developed by NUS Entrepreneurship Centre, that puts the achievement of social impact as the primary design goal, and adapts the BMC to more effectively explore how different business models can be developed to achieve those impacts. This design approach also highlights how the financial requirements of a business model can be met with different financing models, and shows how the tensions between achieving social impacts and meeting financing requirements can be resolved through the design of an appropriate stakeholder model that generates a “shared-purpose” between the social entrepreneur and other stakeholders. It uses concrete examples of actual social ventures to illustrate how social impacts and financial viability are achieved in practice using this purpose-driven approach to business model design. Viewers invited to apply this holistic analytical framework to examine their own social venturing ideas, and to share their new learnings.

Water samples were tested for various physical and chemical parameters including conductivity, nitrogen levels, dissolved oxygen, pH, and total dissolved solids. Statistically significant differences were found for conductivity, nitrite, nitrate, dissolved oxygen, pH and TDS between the sites. Ammonia levels exceeded state standards at all sites. High rainfall prior to sampling likely affected the results. Overall, the water quality meets standards for wildlife except for ammonia levels, though more testing is needed after rain events.

Simultaneous Determination of Cu, Pb, Cd, ...BRNSS Publication Hub The analytical procedure has been developed for simultaneous determination of the toxic trace metals Cu, Pb, Cd, and Znin soil samples from Bhusawal, employing electrochemical techniques, namely square wave voltammetry, differential pulse polarographic, and anodic stripping voltammetry (DP-ASV) techniques at hanging mercury drop electrode. The soil samples were collected from Bhusawal area, at five points, in March 2016. The metals were made free from any interference, and the applicability of the method has been proved by the analysis of soil samples from polluted and non-polluted area. Accuracy is verified by employing atomic absorption spectrometry. Simultaneous determination by the polarographic and voltammetric method for studied four metals and calculation of concentration level of each metal in the collected samples from the selected area was studied. The results and conclusions were discussed.

Researchers drilled 9 boreholes and used various tools to identify and characterize fractures. They found that while hundreds of fractures were detected in each borehole, only a few were highly conductive. These transmissive fractures tended to occur within two subhorizontal zones of lower resistivity and increased borehole diameter. By integrating results, researchers developed a conceptual model of the site as two confined fractured zones within an impermeable rock matrix. An automated data acquisition system was also developed and proven reliable for long-term monitoring during hydrologic tests.

He has strong skills in method development, instrumentation maintenance, and training others. Robotham received his PhD from the University of Texas at Austin where he developed methods for analyzing flavonoids and characterizing proteins. He has published several peer-reviewed articles and presented his research at national conferences. Prior to his graduate studies, Robotham served in the United States Air Force National Guard as a Supply Management Specialist.

A variety of molecular analysis techniques were used to genotype 140 M. kansasii isolates, including existing ITS-REA and newer automated repetitive-PCR (DiversiLab) and high resolution melt analysis (HRM). The results showed that ITS-REA identified 3 main strain types, while DiversiLab and HRM differentiated strains better but with some limitations. Comparison of strains from patients and water found some matches but indicated water is unlikely to be a major source of infection in Brisbane, though mining areas may pose higher risk. Whole
