The document discusses the differences between conglomerates and corporations. A conglomerate owns smaller companies and controls their ideas and employees. While this provides money and brand recognition, it limits creative freedom and specialist ideas. A corporation like SpinMedia manages itself and produces different products to build its brand identity. This allows for more creative freedom and specialist ideas but may involve less money and support. The author would prefer to distribute their magazine through SpinMedia as a corporation to have more creative freedom and produce content they feel is real and engaging for readers over just fame or recognition.

Conglomerate
1. Conglomerate is a company that
owns small corporation.
Such example that I looked at
would be Bauer, which is a
media conglomerate but also
own other smaller brands such
as Kiss, Bird Watching and Mojo.
Advantages Disadvantages
Money wise they assist
you on what you need
Controls the ideas that
you come up with.
Make your company well
known
Ideas are made to be
mainstream not
specialist.
They are also world wide
appeal.
They control the
amount of employees
you have.
Costumers are more
likely to pick up your
brands.
2. Corporation are companies that manage
themselves without the help from the
structure of
a Conglomerate. The example I looked was
SpinMedia, which even though is a
Corporation they also produce other
product which creates a brand identity.
Advantages Disadvantages
Ideas can specialist rather than
mainstream all the time.
Might struggle to build the
company from the ground.
More creative freedom Money may also be an issue
when the don’t have anyone to
turn to.
Less pressure from other
companies who are linked to
them
3. • I would like to distribute my magazine with SpinMedia,
due to being a corporation. The reason why I want to do
this is because I want my magazine to have a creative
freedom, to allow me to put out there what I think would
intrigue other people. To create something that is real
and close to my heart, not just doing it because it would
get me fame or my music magazine will be well known. I
get the fact that money may be tight to meet certain
things I may need or I might struggle to build my music
magazine but as long as the people who reads it, enjoys
it, that’s all that matters.
