History of Calabarzon
• On May 17, 2002, Pres, Gloria
Macapagal Arroyo signed Executive
Order no.103, which made reorganized
to the Southern Tagalog region.
Calabarzon Region IV-A
CAVITE
Known as “Land of Braves”/ "Historical
Capital of the Philippines“. It is the Cradle of
Philippine Revolution , and the birthplace of
Philippine Independence.
Located on the southern shores of Manila Bay
in the CALABARZON region in Luzon, just
30 kms. South of Manila.
One of the most industrialized and fastest
growing provinces in the Philippines.

Tagalog word “kawit” which means hook owing
to the hook shaped land on the old Spanish map.
The land was formerly known as “tangway”
where Spanish authorities constructed a port
from which the city of Cavite rose

Historical Places
The Aguinaldo
Shrine and
Museum in Kawit
is where the
independence of the
Philippines was
proclaimed on June
12, 1898 by General
Aguinaldo, the
Philippines’ first
president.
Corregidor
is an island fortress where Filipino and American forces
fought against the Japanese invaders in 1942. It has become
a tourist attraction with tunnels, cannons and other war
structures still well-preserved. The famous line of General
Douglas McArthur said is associated with Corregidor: "I
shall return!"
St Mary Magdalene Church of Kawit
-is one of the oldest church in the Philippines,
construction of the present church was started in
1737. the church was last restored in 1990 by the
citizens of Kawit.
Andres Bonifacio Shrine and Ecotourism Park
Located in the vicinity of Mount Nagpatong in
Cavite, Andres Bonifacio Shrine and Ecotourism
Park marks the supposed place where Andres
Bonifacio an his brother Procopio were executed in
1897.
Battle of Binakayan Monument
The site of a fiercer fighting between the Spaniards
and the Filipino soldiers that happened on November
9-11, 1896 depicting one of the shining moments of
the Philippine struggle for independence.
Tejeros Convention Site
This was the place where the Filipino
Revolutionaries held their 115th convention on
March 22, 1897 and approved the establishment of
a Revolutionary Government headed by Gen.
Emilio Aguinaldo.
Julian Felipe Monument
A monument stands proud for a great son of a
Caviteño, the composer of the Philippine National
Anthem – Professor Julian Felipe. At present, the
Filipino lyrics of the stirring composition of Don
Julian Felipe was supplied by Jose Palma. January
28, the birth anniversary of Professor Felipe was
declared Special Public Holiday in the City of Cavite
by virtue of Republic Act 7805 approved on July 26,
1993.

Festivals
KALAYAAN FESTIVAL-
• it is a 2 week long province
wide event held annually from
May 28-June 12.
• As its name suggest, the series
of events for the festival are
held to celebrate the
independence day season.
• The festival was launched in
2005 with a variety of
activities such as street
dancing, float parade, beauty
pageant and trade fair.
REGADA FESTIVAL
- also called the “water
festival”, the festival
comprised of games, street
dancing, photo exhibit,
trade fair, concert and
water splashing. The
festival is done 3 days from
June 22-24 done in
celebration of St. John the
Baptist.
SORTEO FESTIVAL
-local festival held
every three years to
relive the old practice
of distributing
agricultural lots to
deserving farmers
through raffle draws.
SUMILANG FESTIVAL
• recognized as the
agriculture event. The
occasion is participated
in by dancers who come
from agricultural sectors

KAWAYAN FESTIVAL
-held every 7th day of September wherein a
group of street dancers parade in indigenous
materials. An exhibit of bamboo products
likewise done in the town plaza.
• Maragondon
PAHIMIS FESTIVAL
- also called the “cofee festival” as way of
thanksgiving for abundant harvest of coffee in
the municipality. Trade fair, street dancing,
beauty pageant, coffee convention are the usual
activities done during the occasion. Free flowing
dringking of coffee is offered to everybody.

Balit Falls
Mount Marami, or Mataas na Gulod Boulders, is a dormant
volcano in Cavite province on the island of Luzon,
Philippines. The mountain rises to an elevation of 405 m
(1,329 ft) above mean sea level and is one of the ancient
volcanic features of Bataan Arc.
Mount Pico de Loro, also known as Mount Palay-
Palay, is a dormant volcano in Cavite province on
the island of Luzon, Philippines. The mountain is
one of the ancient volcanic features of Bataan Arc.
Mount Sungay, also known as Mount Gonzales, is a
mountain in the province of Cavite in
the Philippines. Located in eastern Tagaytay, the
inactive stratovolcano is the highest point of the
province of Cavite at 709 metres (2,326 ft). The
slopes of the mountain is the source of the San
Cristobal River that flows from the mountain
to Silang, Cavite down to its mouth at Laguna de
Bayin Calamba, Laguna.
Mount Nagpatong is located in Maragondon,
Cavite. It is a home to Andres Bonifacio National
Shrine that has just been recently established.
Fortunately, the shrine can be accessed by any type
of vehicle that is capable to pass through rough
roads. The name of the mountain was taken after a
rock that is on top of the mountain, locals say. Mt.
Buntis and Mt. Nagpatong claim to be the
execution site.

• Amadeo is nicknamed the “Coffee Capital of
the Philippines”. Amadeo is the largest coffee

speak Chavacano or “Broken spanish”.
Chavacano is also called Philippine creole
Spanish”.
• In 2006, Dasmarinas was declared the richest
city in Cavite Province.
Laguna
• Laguna almost completely surrounds Laguna
de Bay, the largest lake in the country.
• The province got its name from the Spanish
word “lago” which means lake or lagoon.
• Laguna is notable as the birthplace of Jose
Rizal, the country's national hero.

Laguna
• Its capital is Santa Cruz and the province is
situated southeast of Metro Manila, south of the
province of Rizal, west of Quezon, north
of Batangas and east of Cavite. Laguna hugs the
southern shores of Laguna de Bay, the largest
lake in the country.
• As of the 2015 census, the province's total
population is 3,035,081. It is also currently the
seventh richest province in the country.
Laguna de Bay is the largest lake in the
Philippines and is named after the town of Bay

• It is the second largest producer of coconut in
the country.
• It is also noted for its woodcarvings, barong
materials and linen.
• Agriculture and fishery are the main
industries that contribute a great part of the
provincial economy.

Rizal Shrine

Shrine of Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe
Founded in 1687. It is originallly chapel of bamboo and nipa.
Reconstructed in 1960 with deep affection by the town postas
(able-bodied men rendering the annual polo of forced labor)
under the direction of Miguel Guanco and Alcuacil Mayor
Alfonso Garcia. Improved in 1853 by Fr. Joaquin de Coria, a
talented priest-engineer designed and built the high belfry and
the gorgeous cupola, with the Pagsanjeños supplying the
labor, materials and funds. The Church was damaged during
the World War II.
Nagcarlan Underground
Cemetery Historical Landmark
Built in 18th century by the Franciscan
Missionaries, the underground cemetery is a
circular wall structure. At the crypt of the
cemetery, according to history, is where the
Katipuneros plotted against Spanish rule.
The Battle Of Mabitac Mural, Mabitac
The Battle of Mabitac is considered to be one of the
first successful battles fought against the American
Regime during the Filipino-American War that
happened on September 17, 1900. In the said
encounter, the Filipino Forces headed by General
Juan Cailles killed the US Commanding General
Cheatam.
Tourist Attraction
Pagsanjan Falls, also known as Cavinti
Falls (indigenous name: Magdapio Falls) is one of
the most famous waterfalls in the Philippines.
Mount Banahaw is a potentially active
volcano on Luzon in the Philippines. The three-
peaked volcano complex is located between
the provinces of Laguna and Quezon and is the
tallest mountain in the CALABARZON region
dominating the landscape for miles around. The
mountain is considered by many as a "Holy
mountain.
Mount Makiling, is a dormant volcano located on the border
of Laguna province and Batangas on the island
of Luzon, Philippines. The mountain rises to an elevation of
1,090 m (3,580 ft) above mean sea level and is the highest
feature of the Laguna Volcanic Field. The volcano has no
recorded historic eruption but volcanism is still evident
through geothermal features like mud spring and hot springs.

Calauan is known for the
Pineapple Festival, which is
celebrated every 15th of
May.
An annual event which
started in 1999. The festival
aims to promote pineapple
and other agricultural
products of Calauan.
Pinya Festival
Batingaw Festival
A festivity commemorating the
legendary Kampanang Ginto
which Cabuyao is known. The
celebration always starts with
the simultaneous ringing of
church bells, which Cabuyeños
believe that it brings good
agricultural harvest.
Siniloan, Laguna - Guilingan Festival
Guilingan or stone grinder/grindst
one,
an oldstyle rice grinder being used
for kalamay, putoat latik , these ar
e local delicacies of the town.
Guilingan Festival is being held an
nually in themonth of August.
San Pablo - Coco Festival
The Coconut Festival is a week long celebration in
San Pablo in honor of their Patron Saint Paul the
Hermit.

• Also known in the Philippine history as the
Cradle of Noble Heroes
• Is the province of the Philippines located on
the Southwestern part of Luzon in the
CALABARZON region.
• Its capital is Batangas City and it is bordered
by the provinces of Cavite and Laguna to the
North and Quezon to the East.
• Got its name from the term “batangan “
meaning raft, which the people used so that
they could fish in the nearby Taal lake.

Sinukmani is a popular Tagalog delicacy of
glutinous rice cooked on coconut milk and sugar.
Much like biko in appearance, the sinukmani of
Rosario town is topped with caramel for added
flavor. Some are garnished with local fruits for a
more sophisticated appeal.

festival aimed to
help the community
restore the identity
of the town.
• Anihan Festival is
annually celebrated
as thanksgiving for

townsfolk of Lobo
province of
Batangas, held every
last week of
September.
Casa De Segunda
• The ancestral residence of one of
the most notable families in Lipa
City – the Katigbak clan.
Probably the most prominent
member of the family
was Segunda Katigbak who was
claimed to be our National Hero,
Dr. Jose Rizal’s first love. The
house was transformed into a
museum and was declared by the
National Historical Commission
as a heritage house.
Historical Places
• This cradles the
memories of Sublime
Paralytic, Apolinario
Mabini. His personal
belongings which all
became part of his
childhood days are
showcased in the
museum. This is also
where his remains were
put to rest. The Mabini
Shrine can be found in
Barrio Talaga
in Tanauan, the hero’s
hometown.
• This lighthouse in Calatagan
offers a panoramic view of the
Balayan Bay. Sometimes it’s
called Faro de Punta Santiago or
simply Cape Santiago.
• The lighthouse had withstood
the past wars and colonization
periods from the Spanish to
American to Japanese invasion.
And right now, it is one of the
famous destinations in
Calatagan. Punta de Santiago
Interesting Spots
• Calicon Falls
The attraction consists of two major falls and two
smaller ones. One of the bigger falls is about 10
feet high with a great volume of clear gushing
down to a shallow pool. The other one (also about
10 feet high) resembles a bridal gown. One of the
two smaller falls is shower-like, while the other
one forms a series of small caswcade. All the falls
are located in an area of about 300 square meters.

Ilijan is a unique
waterfalls with water
coming from a big
spring at the top of a
mountain gracefully
flowing from one bowl
to another. It has seven
huge stone bowls
carved naturally out of
the mountainsides and
beautifully arranged
like a flight of stairs.
• Bulalacao Falls
The area has about
three small falls
enclosed in a canyon,
the highest of which
is about 10 feet hugh
with water coming
out of the mouth of a
small cave.
Mt. Maculot
One of the highest and
prominent mountains in the
province, Mt. Maculot is one
of the favorite sites of
mountain trekker. It is said that
the mountain was the last
stronghold of the Japanese in
the province before they were
defeated. Several tunnels built
by the Japanese soldiers are
present in the area. The name
"Maculot" (meaning "kinky")
derived inspiration from the
curly-haired aborigines of the
place.

  • 18. Battle of Binakayan Monument The site of a fiercer fighting between the Spaniards and the Filipino soldiers that happened on November 9-11, 1896 depicting one of the shining moments of the Philippine struggle for independence.
  • 19. Tejeros Convention Site This was the place where the Filipino Revolutionaries held their 115th convention on March 22, 1897 and approved the establishment of a Revolutionary Government headed by Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo.
  • 20. Julian Felipe Monument A monument stands proud for a great son of a Caviteño, the composer of the Philippine National Anthem – Professor Julian Felipe. At present, the Filipino lyrics of the stirring composition of Don Julian Felipe was supplied by Jose Palma. January 28, the birth anniversary of Professor Felipe was declared Special Public Holiday in the City of Cavite by virtue of Republic Act 7805 approved on July 26, 1993.

KALAYAAN FESTIVAL- • it is a 2 week long province wide event held annually from May 28-June 12. • As its name suggest, the series of events for the festival are held to celebrate the independence day season. • The festival was launched in 2005 with a variety of activities such as street dancing, float parade, beauty pageant and trade fair.
  • 25. REGADA FESTIVAL - also called the “water festival”, the festival comprised of games, street dancing, photo exhibit, trade fair, concert and water splashing. The festival is done 3 days from June 22-24 done in celebration of St. John the Baptist.
  • 26. SORTEO FESTIVAL -local festival held every three years to relive the old practice of distributing agricultural lots to deserving farmers through raffle draws.

  • 37. Mount Marami, or Mataas na Gulod Boulders, is a dormant volcano in Cavite province on the island of Luzon, Philippines. The mountain rises to an elevation of 405 m (1,329 ft) above mean sea level and is one of the ancient volcanic features of Bataan Arc.

  • 39. Mount Sungay, also known as Mount Gonzales, is a mountain in the province of Cavite in the Philippines. Located in eastern Tagaytay, the inactive stratovolcano is the highest point of the province of Cavite at 709 metres (2,326 ft). The slopes of the mountain is the source of the San Cristobal River that flows from the mountain to Silang, Cavite down to its mouth at Laguna de Bayin Calamba, Laguna.
  • 40. Mount Nagpatong is located in Maragondon, Cavite. It is a home to Andres Bonifacio National Shrine that has just been recently established. Fortunately, the shrine can be accessed by any type of vehicle that is capable to pass through rough roads. The name of the mountain was taken after a rock that is on top of the mountain, locals say. Mt. Buntis and Mt. Nagpatong claim to be the execution site.

Laguna hugs the southern shores of Laguna de Bay, the largest lake in the country. • As of the 2015 census, the province's total population is 3,035,081.   • 50. Shrine of Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe Founded in 1687. It is originallly chapel of bamboo and nipa. Reconstructed in 1960 with deep affection by the town postas (able-bodied men rendering the annual polo of forced labor) under the direction of Miguel Guanco and Alcuacil Mayor Alfonso Garcia. Improved in 1853 by Fr. Joaquin de Coria, a talented priest-engineer designed and built the high belfry and the gorgeous cupola, with the Pagsanjeños supplying the labor, materials and funds. The Church was damaged during the World War II.
  • 51. Nagcarlan Underground Cemetery Historical Landmark Built in 18th century by the Franciscan Missionaries, the underground cemetery is a circular wall structure. At the crypt of the cemetery, according to history, is where the Katipuneros plotted against Spanish rule.

The Battle Of Mabitac Mural, Mabitac The Battle of Mabitac is considered to be one of the first successful battles fought against the American Regime during the Filipino-American War that happened on September 17, 1900. Probably the most prominent member of the family was Segunda Katigbak who was claimed to be our National Hero, Dr. Jose Rizal’s first love. The house was transformed into a museum and was declared by the National Historical Commission as a heritage house.

  • 74. • Calicon Falls The attraction consists of two major falls and two smaller ones. One of the bigger falls is about 10 feet high with a great volume of clear gushing down to a shallow pool. The other one (also about 10 feet high) resembles a bridal gown. One of the two smaller falls is shower-like, while the other one forms a series of small caswcade. All the falls are located in an area of about 300 square meters.
