Volocopter
This volocopter by e-volo is a completely novel, vertical take off and
landing(VTOL) manned aircraft. Face that it was conceived of as a purely
electrically powered aircraft sets it apart from conventional aircraft.
INTRODUCTION
Volocopter ?
• At Volocopter we are building the first manned, fully electric and safe VTOLs in the world. We
want to make humanity’s dream of flying come true and help modern cities resolve
increasing mobility issue .
• The initial two-seat design uses battery packs, with a flight-time duration of only about 20 to
30 minutes. It will be certified for sport flying, Zosel says, and he plans to sell the copters for
about $340,000. He's also working to develop a hybrid power system that would extend flight
time to over one hour. But that's just the beginning of Zosel's vision. "The aim is to change
the mobility for a lot of people, not only for fun," he says. "For transportation, and for getting
work done."
• The flying machine looks something like a helicopter but it is quite different and is intended
to be a future answer to the greening of noisy, vibration-heavy helicopters as we have known
them. A two-seater prototype of the Volocopter, by the company e-volo, made its maiden
voyage earlier Karlsruhe, Germany
Design and development
• The Volocopter is an entirely new aircraft
with many rotors and a lot of new ideas.

the development and construction of

• The e-volo VC200 Volocopter is a single-
place
experimental electric multirotor helicopter.
• The single-place, 18 motor, all-electric e-
volo VC1 "Volocopter" was demonstrated
on 21 October 2011.
• The VC2 is the next follow-on with 18
engines suspended around an aluminum
truss frame that includes a center-mounted
seat, battery, and Battery Management
Unit.
• Two prototypes performed unmanned flight
tests, with the first manned flight made on
March 30, 2016 by Alexander Zosel.

SUPREME SAFETY
• The Volocopter 2X incorporates superior design systems in all critical areas assuring the
highest degree of reliability. This encompasses propellers, electric motors, battery packs,
electronics, displays and much more. In addition, all communication networks are connected
via the latest optical fibers - in other words “fly-by-light”. There are also numerous support
systems for flight control and stabilization. Also on board, although you will never require it,
is an emergency parachute.
OPERATING SO SIMPLE
• Flight has never been so easy. Only a short induction is required to operate the
Volocopter. The reason: The latest support systems and more than 100
microprocessors automatically ensure perfect stability and control of the
multicopter. Whether it is altitude control, balance or landing, the Volocopter 2X
can easily and intuitively be operated by a single joystick. Even if the pilot lets go of
the joystick, the multicopter will retain its prevailing position fully automatically.
Even better, in areas in which autonomous operations are possible, it can simply
fly on its own.
COST EFFECTIVE
• The Volocopter 2X sets new benchmarks not just in terms of reliability and
simplicity, but also where cost effectiveness is concerned. Fuel is replaced by
economic (and increasingly sustainably generated) electricity. On top of this,
requirements for maintenance, repair and overhaul are reduced to a minimum
through the avoidance of complex mechanical components. The simple and
intuitive operation also does away with the need for an extra pilot. The Volocopter
just flies by itself.

  • 6. Volocopter ? • At Volocopter we are building the first manned, fully electric and safe VTOLs in the world. We want to make humanity’s dream of flying come true and help modern cities resolve increasing mobility issue . • The initial two-seat design uses battery packs, with a flight-time duration of only about 20 to 30 minutes. It will be certified for sport flying, Zosel says, and he plans to sell the copters for about $340,000. He's also working to develop a hybrid power system that would extend flight time to over one hour. But that's just the beginning of Zosel's vision. "The aim is to change the mobility for a lot of people, not only for fun," he says. "For transportation, and for getting work done." • The flying machine looks something like a helicopter but it is quite different and is intended to be a future answer to the greening of noisy, vibration-heavy helicopters as we have known them.   • 7. Design and development • The Volocopter is an entirely new aircraft with many rotors and a lot of new ideas. DG Flugzeugbau is a key partner of the development network and responsible for the development and construction of composite structures. • The e-volo VC200 Volocopter is a single- place experimental electric multirotor helicopter. • The single-place, 18 motor, all-electric e- volo VC1 "Volocopter" was demonstrated on 21 October 2011. • The VC2 is the next follow-on with 18 engines suspended around an aluminum truss frame that includes a center-mounted seat, battery, and Battery Management Unit. • Two prototypes performed unmanned flight tests, with the first manned flight made on March 30, 2016 by Alexander Zosel.
  • 10. SUPREME SAFETY • The Volocopter 2X incorporates superior design systems in all critical areas assuring the highest degree of reliability. This encompasses propellers, electric motors, battery packs, electronics, displays and much more. In addition, all communication networks are connected via the latest optical fibers - in other words “fly-by-light”. There are also numerous support systems for flight control and stabilization. Also on board, although you will never require it, is an emergency parachute.
  • 11. OPERATING SO SIMPLE • Flight has never been so easy. Only a short induction is required to operate the Volocopter. The reason: The latest support systems and more than 100 microprocessors automatically ensure perfect stability and control of the multicopter. Whether it is altitude control, balance or landing, the Volocopter 2X can easily and intuitively be operated by a single joystick. Even if the pilot lets go of the joystick, the multicopter will retain its prevailing position fully automatically. Even better, in areas in which autonomous operations are possible, it can simply fly on its own.
  • 12. COST EFFECTIVE • The Volocopter 2X sets new benchmarks not just in terms of reliability and simplicity, but also where cost effectiveness is concerned. Fuel is replaced by economic (and increasingly sustainably generated) electricity. On top of this, requirements for maintenance, repair and overhaul are reduced to a minimum through the avoidance of complex mechanical components. The simple and intuitive operation also does away with the need for an extra pilot. The Volocopter just flies by itself.
