A scale drawing represents an object in exact proportion to its real dimensions using a scale ratio. An enlargement scale creates a drawing that is bigger than the object, a reduction scale makes the drawing smaller, and a full scale drawing is the same size as the object it represents. The scale is expressed as a ratio comparing the size in the drawing to the actual size of the object.
3. WHAT IS A SCALE?
A scale drawing is a drawing of an object or
figure. The dimensions of the object in the scale
drawing are in exact proportion to the dimensions
of the object in real life.
The scale of a drawing is the ratio between the
drawing and the object.
SCALE = Size in the drawing / Size of the object
4. ENLARGEMENT SCALE makes the drawing
bigger than the real object.
E 2:1 indicates that the drawing is two times
bigger than the size of the object.
5. REDUCTION SCALE makes the drawing
smaller than the real object.
E1:2 indicates that the drawing is half the size of
the object.
6. FULL SCALE the drawing and the real object are
the same.
E 1:1 indicates that the drawing is full size.
7. FULL SCALE the drawing and the real object are
the same.
E 1:1 indicates that the drawing is full size.
