This document provides an overview of skepticism from both an historical and modern perspective. It discusses the views of ancient skeptics like Socrates, Pyrrho, and Kant who questioned whether knowledge could be obtained. Pyrrho advocated withholding judgment and said that things are no more one way than another. Modern skepticism focuses more on knowledge, certainty, and justified belief. It holds that we should not believe things until sufficient evidence supports them, in order to establish truth to the best of our ability, taking a skeptical approach like scientific skepticism.
