Jammu and Kashmir has a total area of 2,22,236 sq km and population of 12.55 million according to 2011 census. It has summer capital in Srinagar and winter capital in Jammu. The region has diverse geography, rivers, lakes, flora and fauna. Some of the popular national parks are Gulmarg Biosphere Reserve, Dachigam National Park and Nandini Wildlife Sanctuary. The region has diverse culture, cuisine and festivals. Tourism is an important part of the economy along with agriculture. The best time to visit is from September to April. There are several options to reach Jammu and Kashmir including flights from major cities like Mumbai and trains from places like Delhi.
