As the Mountaineers prepare to kick off their Big 12 slate against the Kansas State Wildcats on Saturday, they will debut a new look. For the first time, they will wear gold helmets, gold jerseys with blue pants.

This will be the first time the Mountaineers have worn gold jerseys against the Wildcats. In both 2012 and 2014 they chose to wear traditional blue jerseys. In the 2013 and 2015 away games they wore the traditional white jerseys. The Mountaineers have worn white pants against the Wildcats three times (2013, 2014, 2015) and blue pants once (2012). They’ve worn white helmets twice (2014 and 2015), blue once (2012) and gold once (2013).

In both games played in Morgantown, the Wildcats have worn traditional grey helmets, white jerseys and grey pants. This game may bring back flashbacks for Skyler Howard, who saw his first significant playing time in 2014, coming on for a concussed Clint Trickett. Howard played well in the 2014 game, throwing for 198 yards and 2 touchdowns.
