Roggenrola Pokémon

Last Modified Jul 21, 2021 11:49 GMT

Roggenrola is a mostly-spherical, Rock-type Pokémon, introduced in Generation V. Its body houses an energy core and due to the compression of its living quarters, Roggenrola is as hard as steel (though not a Steel type), with a body comparable to that of Geodude or Carbink.

Appearance

Roggenrola is a small, dark blue, rock-shaped Pokémon. It has a hexagonal, yellow energy core in the center of its body, which also acts as an ear for Roggenrola. Its feet, as well as an obovoid on the top of its head, are also made of rocks but instead of dark blue, they are brown in color.

Behavior

Roggenrola is born deep underground, and therefore spends the majority of its time there. Its energy core is Roggenrola’s means of hearing, so therefore it is extremely sensitive to all sounds. It can even hear things that are inaudible to humans or other Pokèmon and likes to follow the sounds it hears. Furthermore, Roggenrola has even been known to panic when the sounds stop.

Strengths and Weaknesses

Roggenrola is resistant against Normal, Flying, Poison, and Fire Pokémon. It only takes half of the normal amount of damage against those types of Pokémon. It is weak against Fighting, Ground, Steel, Water, and Grass types, receiving twice as much damage from those types. Psychic, Bug, Dark, Electric, Ghost, and Ice-type Pokémon affect Roggenrola normally.

Shiny Roggenrola

Shiny Roggenrola

The Shiny Roggenrola has completely different colors as compared to normal Roggenrola with its body a deep purple and its energy core now a bright orange. Its oblong head rock and rock feet are a darker brown as well. The Roggenrola evolves into Boldore, which is normally made of dark blue and red colors, but the Shiny Boldore is also purple with neon blue crystals on its body. The same goes for the Shiny Gigalith, which is normally dark blue and red, but its shiny version is purple and neon blue. Shiny Roggenrolas spawn at a rate of 1/450, making this a rare Pokémon. Shiny Roggenrolas, Boldores, and Gigaliths do not have any kind of stat advantage when compared to their non-shiny variants.

Best moveset (Roggenrola)

Roggenrola has a lot of strong moves, including one move that has 250 power and 100% accuracy (Explosion). Here are Roggenrola’s best moves; both Explosion and Earthquake hit adjacent Pokémon but for Explosion, the user faints, while Earthquake does double damage on Dig. Stone Edge has a high critical hit ratio. Earth Power has a 10% chance of lowering the target’s Sp. Def by 1.

How to catch Roggenrola in Pokemon Go?

Roggenrola will most often be found during partly cloudy weather as this weather condition boosts the spawn rate of rock-types. They can also be hatched from 5km eggs and rewarded from both Research Encounters and Raids. Roggenrola evolves into Boldore at 50 candies, and into Gigalith at either 200 candies or when traded to another player.

Trivia

  1. Roggenrola somewhat resembles Bob-omb from Super Mario 64.
  2. In Pokémon X and Y, it is rare to find a Roggenrola holding an Everstone.
  3. Roggenrola is the only Pokémon from Generation V to only consist of a head and legs.
  4. Roggenrola is tied with Rockruff for the lowest base stat of all Rock-type Pokémon.
  5. Roggenrola and Geodude are very similar. Both are Rock-type, have Sturdy as one of their top abilities, as well as both evolve at level 25 and evolve again once traded.

FAQs

Is Roggenrola a Steel type Pokemon?

No, despite Roggenrola’s body being described as “hard as steel”, it is just a Rock type Pokemon. It does not have a dual type and neither do its evolutions, Boldore and Gigalith.

What is Roggenrola supposed to be?

Roggenrola is supposed to be like a Pokemon version of a geode. A geode is a small cavity in rock that is lined with minerals and in this case, it’s Roggenrola’s core.

Is Roggenrola an egg Pokemon?

In Pokemon Go, Roggenrola can be caught but can also be hatched from 5km eggs.

Does Roggenrola have an eye?

No, Roggenrola’s “eye” is actually just a single hexagonal ear, so Roggenrola has no eyes but does have an ear.

Conclusion

Roggenrola is a really good Pokemon to have. With two evolutions that get much better each time is a significant advantage and while Roggenrola aren’t particularly aggressive in the Pokemon games, they could be a strong addition to a team.
