Koume & Kotake (コウメ, Koume and コタケ, Kotake) are characters from the The Legend of Zelda series.

Origin[edit]

Koume and Kotake are twin Gerudo sisters and the adoptive mothers of Ganondorf. They are witches with elemental powers — Kotake's are ice based, Koume's are flame based — and they fight Link in Ocarina of Time as the boss of the Spirit Temple. During the first phase of the battle, they fight separately, but in the second phase, they merge into a single, younger-looking being named Twinrova. They later appeared as a boss in The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages and The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons in a somewhat similar fashion. After 22 years of absences, Koume and Kotake reappears in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom as subordinates of Ganondorf as seen in the Memory "A Show of Fealty".

In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS[edit]

The twins appear on the Gerudo Valley stage in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS. They appear once the bridge has been broken, after which they fly around the stage before randomly setting either the left half of the stage on fire, or creating ice spikes on the right side. This effect is only temporary, and forces all fighters to one side of the map.

Trophy[edit]

Twinrova
NTSC Koume and Kotake are twins who can merge to form Twinrova. They have about 800 years between them, but as Twinrova they appear young and alluring. It is best to remember that Twinrova possesses the magical powers of both sisters, making her a very dangerous foe, even to herself...
PAL Koume, the Sorceress of Flame, and Kotake, the Sorceress of Ice. Despite having a combined age of 800, when they fuse together, they turn into the youthful, bewitching beauty Twinrova. This gigantic, powerful form attacks with both fire and ice magic, so watch out!

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate[edit]

Koume and Kotake reappear on the Gerudo Valley stage in Ultimate, behaving the same as they did in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS.

Spirits[edit]

Koume & Kotake also appear as two primary spirits. They can be summoned using the cores of Charlotte Aulin, Freezie, and Fire Flower. Twinrova can be obtained by enhancing the Koume & Kotake spirit at level 99.

Their Spirit Battle uses a pink and blue Bayonetta puppet fighter and is fought on the Gerudo Valley stage. During the battle, Koume & Kotake appear as stage hazards while the pink and blue Bayonettas each start off with a Fire Flower and a Freezie, referencing their respective fire and ice elements.
